Originated in 15th-Century Bavaria, this pale, hazy beer is still a favorite among Germans even at breakfast. Brewed with 50% wheat malt, the real contributor to its unique flavor is the special yeast strain which produces an abundance of esters and phenols imparting both fruitiness, reminiscent of banana and bubble gum, and spiciness often equated with clove. It’s light and spritzy nature make it an ideal beer for a warm sunny day in the desert west. Brewed with 2-row pale and wheat malt and hopped with German noble hops, this versatile beer pairs well with fish, salads, pork, sausage, Mexican food, even Indian and Asian foods.
