A bright hoppy American India Pale Ale (IPA) with smooth bitterness, citrusy hop flavor and aroma, and a spicy Rye malt profile.
Corduroy Rye is a citrusy, moderately bitter IPA with spicy overtones from the Rye malt. The beginning taste of the beer emphasizes the floral hop flavor from lots of late hop additions and dry hopping. As the beer moves through the mouth the hop bitterness starts to become more prominent and offsets the malty and floral sweetness. The spicy contributions of the Rye occur here too and compliment the floral sweetness of the hops. Towards the back of the mouth the bitterness dominates leaving a sticky bitter taste behind that is one of the defining characteristics of IPAs. The beer is not bitter to the degree of some IPAs however. The high alcohol content is very well hidden as the beer is incredibly smooth and light. This beer does not shy away from citrusy hop flavor. Comparable beers include Jai Alai IPA from Cigar City brewing and, to some degree, Two Hearted Ale from Bell's though both have a more malty profile and lack the Rye spiciness.
