This medium-bodied quaffer was brewer Bill Gerds’ birthday present to himself, but it was so delicious we told him he had to make more and share it with the rest of us! Red Dawn is crafted with three types of Crystal malts, which create a complex palette of malty caramel favors and notes of dark fruit and lightly toasted bread. These flavors marry seamlessly with the apricot and peach notes from the Amarillo hops. Amber ales are a purely American creation that grew out of the craft beer renaissance that began in the early 1980s. Ambers are a beautiful balance between American pale ale-style citrusy hops and the caramelly sweetness from the addition of Crystal malts. The malts also contribute to this beer’s signature amber hue.
