The "Lauertaler Urstoff" is brewed in compliance with the German purity law of 1516. That means it consists only of water, barley malt, hop and yeast. For ecological reasons, only malt from a local malthouse of the Rhön region is used. The bottom-fermented beer has a coppery color, with a wort of about 12 percent, resulting in an alcoholic strength of 5 percent. The beer is neither filtered nor pasteurized.
