IPA leads the craft category across the country and San Antonio is no exception. We can’t keep our IPAs on tap at the pub on Loop 1604--doesn’t matter which brand or style, our IPAs rule the roost! However, when we had to choose one to lead the way at our new S. Presa brewery, the decision was easy: Soul Doubt--our Third Coast IPA--exemplifies both the pioneering spirit of American craft brewing tradition and the stubborn ideals of Texas rebellion in one beer.
What is Third Coast IPA, you ask? It’s Texas terroir--grit, hard-scrabble farming, sacrifice and lean living. It’s bottom-dragging inner tubes on rain-thirsty rivers, driving endlessly across the desert to make the Chisos Mountains by dusk, and spring farm-to-markets adorned with Bluebonnets, Black-eyed Susans and Indian Paintbrush. Third Coast IPA is Texas contrariness in a can. The parched Edwards Escarpment poised precariously along the Texas Hill Country--striking stark contrast between the richness and the ruggedness of our great state.
Soul Doubt Third Coast IPA: designed to enlighten, enliven, and enrich your palate, as well as your soul. Water from the Edward’s Aquifer provides the canvas; a combination of pils, pale and rationed use of caramel malts paints Soul Doubt’s pale color and light mouth-feel. Minimal early hop additions lend a clean, subversive bitterness while our massive late additions of Amarillo and Cascade hops provide a bounty of citrus, orchard fruit, lost pine and wildflower flavor and aroma in the finish. Contrast and balance, Third Coast IPA: Soul Doubt.
