In the brewing tradition there’s a technique called Burtonizing – it involves the addition of specific salts to the brewing water to create water similar to what is found in Burton on Trent. Burton on Trent is one of those mystical places in the lore of brewing, when the brewers there tried to replicate the London pale ales of the day they found that their water was particularly well suited. Not content to copy, they went on to create the IPA and perfect the British version there. Thanks to our unique water, we are able to heavily Burtonize our water and create beers in that classic British style. Suffragette explodes with pine and resin flavors, a solid bitter holds the beer together while a hint of sulfur from the Burtonization completes the profile. We created a beer that straddles the classic British Pale and the IPA so we call it a Burtonized Pale Ale – at 5.8% it’s an easy drinking beer with a full flavor and body.
