The Story:
During the winter months, the Sun sets behind Lolo Peak, and on the coldest evenings, a rare massive sun pillar may appear. A sun pillar looks like a thin column that extends vertically above the sun. The sun pillar is prominently visible when the Sun is low or lies below the horizon. It normally forms an arc that extends from five to ten degrees beyond the solar disc. Sun pillars are formed by reflection from ice crystals with roughly horizontal faces.
The Beer:
The Sun Pillar Double IPA is a more robust version of our 3 Needles IPA. It features a more intense hop profile and higher ABV. The resulting beer is perfect for people looking to enjoy a, frankly, bigger IPA.
