Have you ever found yourself eating a spoonful (or more) of delicious peanut butter? Somewhere in the collective American consciousness is this desire for guilty pleasures. If you don’t have an allergy to nuts, then perhaps you know what I’m talking about. After college my roommate’s mother bought him groceries. He (Vaughn) always had food while I was starving on a shoestring budget. So, for basic survival I’d eat out of his peanut butter jar and smooth over my spoon marks. He’d go crazy and tell me to stay out of his stuff! That began my obsession with peanut butter (the 5th food group). In our Porter, the peanut butter adds a tinge of warm satisfaction as the flavor sits on the back of the palate. We separate the oil from the nut paste and remove any residual oils from the fermentation. What you’re left with is a dark and creamy porter that might keep you out of the peanut butter jar, at least for that day. Raise your glass to Vaughn!
