Originally created in the San Francisco bay area, this lager is brewed using a unique strain of yeast enabling the brewer to ferment at ale temperatures in fermentors called ‘coolships’. The original creator of ‘Steam’ beer trademarked the name ‘Steam’ so all other beers in this style are called ‘California Common’ or us ‘Steem’ as the spelling.
