Wred has a deep garnet color, with a medium body which
foreshadows the deviant style she masks. It has an aroma
of chocolate and pine resin, not often found in a red. Initial
flavors include sourdough with a soft mouthfeel, which
quickly fades into a defined and healthy bitterness. While
Epicure’s version is a bit bigger, ABV-wise, than the
current style guidelines suggest, it is an example of the
direction red ales are going out on the West Coast.
