The newest addition to our Single Tank Series is a Munich-style Helles Lager, or simply, Helles. The Helles style Lager was originally developed around Munich in the late nineteenth century by Bavarian brewers to compete with the hugely popular Czech Pilsners. Hell or Helles is the German word for “bright,” which indicated a beer as light as any of the Pilsners of the time but with a milder, less bitter hop profile. This style of beer was, and still is, one of the world’s most popular styles. The recipe is quite simple, but the delicacy of the flavor is hard to execute and depends a great deal on our special lager yeast. Our version stays true to style by creating a medium-bodied, mildly sweet, and light-colored beer, with low bitterness. The ultimate session-able lager.
