Crisp, clean and quenching. That is what makes Helles the everyday drinking beer of Munich. Wort Hog Brewing’s Rye Not? is our take on the traditional Helles style. We use only the finest Pilsner and Munich malts as well as Tettnang and Hallertauer Tradition, noble German hops. How could we possibly make this beer more drinkable? Could we use a bit of rye in the mash to give it a distinct zip and quaffability? To that question, we exclaimed, “Rye Not?” Rye Not? is a lager so we employ a special yeast strain that has a cool fermentation temperature. Lagers condition about 5 times longer in tank than ales, which can be incredibly taxing on a young brewery. But it’s this extra tank time that gives our rye Helles a signature easy drinking, crisp, clean finish. Wort Hog Brewing’s Rye Not? An exceptional beer for every season! Prosit!
