The Peach is the first mead that meets our critics’ comments that “the
fruit is delicious, but I don’t get the honey clearly.” The Peach is
honey-forward, showcasing Tom Reed’s delicious Northern Michigan
Wildflower honey, and letting the fruit sing the harmony instead of the
melody. If you are looking for a Raspberry Mead-like fruit thump over
the taste buds, this mead marches to a different drummer. Distinct
caramel notes and a brandied honey and vanilla aromatic have brought
another local mead (which will remain unnamed) to mind for a couple of
tasters who got a sneak peak. Medium to full body, and yes, it does pair
well with fish dishes, as the label notes. This mead is a locavore’s
dream, made in Michigan with Michigan peaches and Michigan honey. I want
to have a bottle with some whitefish or walleye, Michigan potato salad,
local corn and a cherry pie to fill out the bill.
