This is a classic old-school Scottish pub ale with a rich caramel and roasted malt accent and very fresh, fragrant hop flavour and aroma. The malt sweetness and flavour is balanced with American bittering hops to maximize drinkability in this classic northern British style of Bitter. Made with British pale ale malt, caramel, Munich and biscuit malts as well as roasted barley to give it a deep mahogany colour full amber malt palate. This beer is “dry hopped” with British Goldings hops in a similar manner to our cask conditioned beers except we have done this to the whole batch and then altered it so that the beer is intensely hopped, but clear and carbonated to the same level as our other ales. Dry hopping adds hops after fermentation to the cooled beer to impart an intensely herbal, fresh hop taste and aroma that is normally lost when hops are added earlier in the brewing process.
