Oktoberfest

Our Oktoberfest is designed to emulate the traditional Vienna style lager using American ingredients. We use the finest American two row and Briess Ashburne and Bolander Munich malt, Tattnanger hops and Bohemian lager yeast. Oktoberfest is malty and crisp, but not sweet, with a smooth, balanced finish and understated hops. We first crafted this beer to celebrate Oktoberfest at the Delaware Saengerbund. This annual German festival brings the spirit of Munich to Delaware with Bavarian bands, German food and folk dancing. Twin Lakes Oktoberfest blends the traditions of German brewing with the innovative American spirit.

Oktoberfest

Paler in color than its more robust cousin, the Maerzen, with a light, toasty, more delicate malt background. It tends to be less sweet with a more assertive hop character. That is not to say that Vienna Lager is a hoppy beer - it's not - but it is a balanced beer. And if you know us at all, you know we LOVE balanced beer. It's also slightly less alcoholic than Maerzen, coming in at around 5.5%. It's hard to find good quality Vienna Lager these days, but the one country that has embraced the style the most is Mexico. We think it has to do with either Maximilian I, another Viennese Austrian who just happened to be emperor of Mexico, or The Most Interesting Man in the World. But that's a lesson for another day.

Oktoberfest Bier

Please welcome our first lager brewed specifically for Oktoberfest! It's not a secret that the festival is already officially over but October is still going so why don't we have a mass or two of tasty beer? Of course, lagers is not our strongest skill, but we decided to take some risk and to spit nails a bit. First of all, it was decided to have the colour of this beer more close to the original beers of this style - it's much more darker than usual modern interpretations of the style as seen by Munich brewers. Second, we have dry hopped our beer! Of course we have selected the perfect aroma German variety - Hallertau Mittelfruh - which added to the brewing kettle during boiling as well as to the fermentation tank later for dry hopping. This hop gives a beautiful flower flavours to our beer. Finally, this beer is a bit more stronger that usual one in this style. We suppose that it would be a plus only for the late Russian autumn. We think that experiment could be considered as successful, the beer is very drinkable with nice malty body and German hops in aroma and taste.

Oktoberfest Bier

A beautiful reddish-orange lager with a nice foamy white head. Perfectly balanced with a complex and spicy hop character that is delicately offset by sweet malts, so that both flavors shine through but neither dominates the other. This Märzen-style lager is the traditional beer of Munich’s Oktoberfest. Literally translated it means “March Beer” and the name stems from the time before refrigeration when the last batch of the spring was brewed in March and then stored (or lagered) in Alpine cellars throughout the warm Bavarian summer. It was then brought back out and served during Oktoberfest and the rest of the fall harvest celebrations.

Oktoberfest Lager

No season is as synonymous with beer as autumn, when the most storied beer festival of them all, Oktoberfest, takes place in Munich, Germany. Since 1810, this celebration of good food, good company, and, most importantly, good beer, has most prominently featured Marzen-style lager–so much so that many refer to the beer simply as Oktoberfest. Our Oktoberfest is a traditional Bavarian lager featuring all-German malts and rare German hops. This dedication to authenticity produces a beer that would be as at home in Munich as it is here in the Midwest United States. The aroma is authentic, the taste sweet and malty, and the finish crisp and hoppy; perfect for a beautiful fall day!
