This delicious and aromatic Oktoberfest is a fall seasonal and true representation of fall colors with its orange body and wonderfully balanced profile. In our opinion, this beer style should be served year round.

The Oktoberfest or Marzen (March) type of beer was originally brewed in March, and laid down in caves before the summer weather rendered brewing impossible. Stocks would be drawn upon heavily during the summer, and exhausted by October. In Germany, this tradition has come to be associated with one specific style, Oktoberfest Bier. In keeping with true German tradition, August Schell Oktoberfest beer is brewed just once a year. Brewed with the perfect balance of Pale, Munich, and Cara Pils malt with Liberty and Perle hops to create a rich, smooth taste.

Rich, malty, amber lager. The Vienna malt base creates a biscuity backbone and the melanoiden malt delivers a hint of toastiness.

Oktoberfest beer is also known as a Marzen, a rich malty beer with a hint of hop bitterness. The beautiful copper color reflects the caramel and pilsner malt in this seasonal brew. Oktoberfest originated for the celebration of King Ludwig I wedding in 1810 and has been a Bavaria tradition ever since. The Marzen/Oktoberfest style beer which is served during the celebration is often brewed in the spring and held cold over the summer to be tapped in spectacular fashion at the beginning of Oktoberfest in Munich. Our take on the style is slightly bitter with a pale head and is served in both liter and half-liter sizes.

To celebrate the harvest, we decided to brew a beer dedicated to the tradition of Oktoberfest. Using Pilsner malt and hops grown in the Northwest, this beer is our way of toasting to the great bounty that our area brings. Prost!

A lager that is pale orange in color. It has a clean malt flavor balanced by a touch of Perle hops. A portion of the grain used was roasted in the oven at Lompoc’s Fifth Quadrant, giving a slight biscuit flavor.

Brewed with vast amounts of Vienna and Munich malts, and balanced with the bitterness of German noble hops, this beer is lagered for over a month. Full-bodied and full of flavor.

Our Oktoberfest is here to celebrate the season. Brewed to the upper end of the alcohol limit of the classic style we use all German Vienna and Munich malts. Oktoberfest vary widely in color depending on their historical tradition. We chose to replicate the most common style in the North which is lighter in color but still rich in flavor. This beer is the first beer that we’ve filtered making it crystal clear to complement the malty sweet flavor.

Originally brewed a couple hundred years ago to celebrate the betrothal of the Crown Prince of Bavaria, we’re helping keep the tradition alive by brewing it every fall for all of our royal/loyal followers. We continue the celebration by traditionally brewing this special malty amber lager in August and September.
