Brewed in the classic English old ale tradition, the Old Stock recipe includes Maris-Otter malts, Fuggles and East Kent Goldings hops and delivers a very friendly 11.9% ABV. The brew’s loyal fan base has learned that the beer cellars beautifully and can be laid down, literally for years, with the rich, winey flavors becoming softer and even more seductive with age.

Old Stock Cellar Reserve is a small batch, limited release that has been aged in brandy barrels. The aging process gives this world-class beer added layers of complexity and flavor. Bottled in a 500 ml bottle with a cork and wire finish, it is a memorable drink that should be enjoyed as a unique offering.

Our original strong beer, dating back to 1998. It’s a pretty accurate representation of the American barleywine style with hints of the style’s English origins (the Maris Otter character, the English fermentation notes). It is rich and warming and best sipped slowly. Old Thunderpussy ages very well and this will soften and gain complexity as time goes by (yes, we always archive some). It makes for fun and educational vertical tastings when you can try multiple years side by side.
