In the height of British Imperial glory, the English were dismayed to find their beer did not survive the long sea voyage in good condition. The solution to making their Pale Ale arrive without spoiling was to add additional hops (a natural preservative) and increase the amount of grain to give it a higher alcohol content. Thus, the Imperial Pale Ale (IPA) was born and has gone on to become one of the most popular beer styles in the world. Our West Coast-style Jagged Edge IPA recipe takes the hop factor to the next level, perfectly balancing it with hearty English malts to give it the zesty backbone of a bold IPA. Jai Alai, a game native to the Basque region of Spain, is played on a court called a fronton. Jai Alai players attempt to catch a ball using a curved mitt whilst the ball travels at speeds up to 188mph! Proving they have a sense of humor the Spanish dubbed this game, with its ball traveling at racecar speeds, “the merry game.” Tampa was once home to a bustling Jai Alai fronton but sadly all that remains of Jai Alai in the Tampa Bay area is this India Pale Ale that we brew in tribute to the merry game. The India Pale Ale style of beer has its roots in the ales sent from England to thirsty British troops in India during the 18th century. A malty, balanced amber ale provides the base for this beer which utilizes fresh jalapeno chilies in the boil. A wonderful green chili aroma is at the forefront of this beer and just enough pepper heat on the finish to draw you in for another glass.

Fire roasted peppers are added to this wheat ale. The medium-bodied beer captures the fruitiness of the jalapeno and ends with a spicy finish!

The evolution of American Pale Ale—still a session beer but it sacrifices nothing—clear hop flavor shines through without being too dominant, and there’s a great malt flavor uncommon to the variety. Jean-Claude Van Blond is inspired by the action hero in all of us. It features a Belgian yeast strain and is built on a lighter malt profile with just a touch of oats for a silky body and some additional depth. You will find this beer intriguing and hard to define—which is just the way we like it.

A dark stout, yet with light body and creamy head. Stouts are full-bodied black ales with flavors of dark roasted coffee and chocolate. Ours is made with Crisp Marris Otter malt, a bit of wheat for smoothness, Perle and Centennial hops and American ale yeast.

This Imperial IPA is filled, literally with hops in all aspects of the brewing process. However with a focus attributing to flavors and aromas of that reminiscent to Floral, Citrus, we allow enough balance to make such a big beer drinkable. The approachable aroma of orange, tangerine and citrus flower bouquet first heightens the senses. Allowing the hop flavor to develop, the malt profile allows minor support to the pallet with just enough malty sweetness. The effects of bittering will be the true treat of this beer. With our efforts focused on a unique bittering profile, the carefully selected polish hops helps develop a long but elegant bittering profile that last a couple of minutes. Truly a remarkable beer that can be enjoy by everyone.

Our pale ale is made with 2-row and crystal malts, and topped with copious volumes of Centennial and Marynka hops for floral aromatics with a hoppy bite.

An English-style ale that finds a nice balance between malt and hops. A little crystal malt adds a touch of sweetness; Pacific Northwest and English hops spice things up a bit.

We brew this American style lager in small batches for superior flavor. Flaked rice is used, along with 2-Row and light Crystal malts, to create a crisp, clean beer lightly bittered with Tettnanger hops. Enjoy as a session beer or pair with your favorite foods.

Abita Jockamo IPA® is an American IPA brewed with pale, red, and caramel malts. This copper-colored ale is liberally hopped and dry hopped with Willamette and Columbus hops. The flavor is bold like the “Mardi Gras Indians” who march through New Orleans in suits of feathers and beads. Jockamo has a flavor that entices and excites the palate. The intense hop character adds more spice to the meal and makes it a perfect choice to team up with many spicy dishes. Cheddar and strong farmer cheeses stand up well to Jockamo’s hoppy character.
