Rum Barrel-Aged Last Snow

Last Snow is an ode to that special time in Florida where the needle dips just south of 75 - even for the briefest of moments. This rich, creamy porter is layered with coconut and freshly-roasted coffee and then aged in rum barrels for a taste that recalls a winter wonderland - even if, in our state, that's just a state of mind.

Rumbah Double Rum Bock

Beer Description: This double bock provides smooth sailin' in rough seas. The fact that this luscious lager was aged in rum barrels creates the illusion that the open sea is a safe place. And while riding out these waves of grain, you may fall victim to the dangers of pirates, rum, bock. OK...maybe the beach is a bit over-rated.

Rummy Old Time

The “Old Time” series is a collaboration with The Charleston Beer Exchange. The base beer (a Belgian-style strong dark ale) for all four Old Times was originally brewed in July 2011, then aged in a variety of oak barrels, some with and some without a blend of brettanomyces, lactobacillus, and pediococcus. Rummy Old Time was aged for 18 months in four 15-gallon Pritchard’s rum barrels without any wild yeast/brewing bacteria. It is the rarest of the series with only 18 cases produced!

Rumpkin

We wondered what would happen if a monstrous pumpkin ale, plump full of spicy gourdiness, were aged in fine fresh rum barrels to add suggestions of delicate oak and candied molasses. Rumpkin is what happened! This first member of the Annual Barrel-Aged Series was brewed with roasted pumpkins from a local Boulder County farm, and spiced with nutmeg, cinnamon, and ginger.

Rumrunner (Prohibition)

The secret to Rumrunner lies in the barrel. Rich, full-bodied and intriguing, Newfoundland Screech barrels were the inspiration for this semi-dry cider, which opens up to reveal complex notes of molasses, apples and rum. Raise a glass of Sea Cider and let your apples out of the barrel! The Story: Rumrunner cider is our homage to the people who, during Prohibition, ran illicit boats full of liquor across the international line in the coastal waters that can be seen from our Ciderhouse. This seafaring connection was first formed when we obtained Newfoundland “Screech” barrels to age one of our cider blends. Rum and bourbon barrels were once a cidermaker’s only storage option and their use imparted distinctly spirited notes to traditional cider. Our Rumrunner cider blends the juice of highly aromatic apples, such as Stayman’s Winesaps and Winter Bananas (all certified organic), so that the apple aromas match the intensity of the oak and rum notes. Tasting Notes: Appearance: Rich mahogany, gently effervescent. Aromas, flavours: Molasses, apple butter, rum. Acid/sweetness: Semi-dry, good acid balance. Mouthfeel: Smooth, long finish.

Rumrunner Coffee Quad

Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee from our neighbor, The Unseen Bean, lends vanilla, toffee and chocolate notes to the dried fruits of the quadrupel. We then age the beer in Thirty Year Old Caribbean Dark Rum barrels until it reaches perfection before keg conditioning it.

Rums of Anarchy

A certain, not to be named, ex-bar managed showed 7 cent Brewery unbridled support in the form of cheap beer. Rarely did a night go by when his other love would rear its ugly head, rum shots, in particular Sailor Jerry spiced rum. This beer was brewed to say thanks for all the beer, rum and support. A rye double stout that was matured on Sailor Jerry Rum soaked oak chips and blended back with a bit of extra rum to give it an extra kick. Rum shots anyone? 3….2…..1….. Shot!

Runaround Rye

Perhaps it's not a big surprise, but it's hard to turn a train around. Doing a “runaround”, in railroad slang, is to disconnect the engine from one end of the train, take it around to the other end, reconnect it, and then take the train back in the opposite direction. Our Runaround Rye ale takes beer and sends it in a different direction. This German-style rye ale is brewed with malted barley and rye, for a dry, spicy flavor, dark malts for color and malt flavor, with mild banana and clove flavors contributed by the yeast, and Hallertauer hops for a mild bitterness.

Runoff

This time of year in the Rockies, one day can span all four seasons. Morning snow turns to afternoon sun, sending fresh snowmelt into our rivers and into our mash tun. Runoff Red IPA is how we honor the shoulder season. With a complex malt backbone dry hopped for notes of citrus and pine and an alpenglow-red hue, it's as surprising as the season itself.
