In August, 2011, Hardywood Park Craft Brewery pioneered a new concept in collaborative brewing: community hopped beer. We had always believed that if we were going to brew an IPA, that it better be extraordinary. Continuing a tradition from our home brewing roots, when neighbors and friends grew hops to contribute to our annual fresh-hopped IPA, we reached out to Richmond's very passionate beer community to invite home hop growers to donate some of their fresh harvest. Sure enough, they came through. With fresh hop contributions from local home growers, Hardywood RVA IPA captures the terroir of Richmond and the spirit of its hop growing beer enthusiasts. A wet-hopped, American-style India Pale Ale with loads of fresh local Columbus, Cascade, Chinook, Centennial and Glacier hops, Hardywood RVA IPA displays a toasted auburn color with a vibrant, creamy head. Cedar, citrus and herbal notes pervade the aroma, while the flavor offers a floral character and a delightful, resinous mouthfeel that can only be achieved with an assertive dose of freshly harvested hops. Medium- to full-bodied, Hardywood RVA IPA finishes with lingering hints of grapefruit and honey. While only 40 gallons of the inaugural RVA IPA were brewed on the pilot brewery in 2011, Hardywood plans to offer local gardeners free hop rhizomes each spring with educational materials on growing and harvesting hops, and the hope for a portion of their bounty at harvest time. We're hopeful that Hardywood RVA IPA will not only evolve as a unique annual beer offering, but as a fun, community building experience. In Denmark we have a lovely tradition for seasonal beer, and what you have here is certainly no exception. This is a never before seen collaboration between Ryan and the Beaster Bunny. A fluffy and precious Saison originally conceived of on the beautiful island of Fanø on the west coast of Denmark. It may sound like a true fairy tale, but don’t be fooled by it’s cute appearance.

This beautifully complex, boldly hopped, amber-colored IPA uses rye malt to give the beer a subtle spiciness. It’s bittered with Bravo and Nugget hops before heading to the hop back packed with whole flower Chinook. Finally, we bomb it with Centennial, Citra, Simcoe, and Columbus, creating a pungent ale with intense notes of citrus and pine.

Rye 75 IPA is a tribute to our friends along Interstate 75. The complex malt flavor in this IPA is afforded by a blend of pale barley, rye, and caramel malts. Rye 75’s malty sweetness is balanced with the spicy malt flavor from a generous addition of rye malt. In addition to its big malt profile, Rye 75 is balanced with an equally assertive dose of American hops yielding 75 IBUs. The additions of Cascade and Columbus hops, not only bitter this beer, but also lend a very citrus and floral flavor and aroma.

A light refreshing summer ale brewed with rye and barley malt. Medium-light in body with a slightly sweet rye flavor and moderate hoppiness. Great for hot summer evenings.

Rye Baby IPA ain’t for no squares! Brewed with floor malted English Marris Otter and a hefty charge of rye malts, this beer brings a spicy malt presence to the scene. But its the hops that are the stars of this hep ale. We hopped Rye Baby with copious amounts of Chinook and Simcoe hops and then dryhopped it with a blend of the two to give it an amazing hop character that will make you the baddest delinquent in Baltimore! We think Rye Baby is a delicious beer that you’ll be burning inside to drink, and if that’s a crime we’ll stand convicted!

A Dopplebock lager that was allowed to freeze and scrap ice off the top of the fermentor. This process is what makes this now an Eisbock. We then moved 3 kegs worth to a Rye Whiskey barrel and allowed to age for over 150 days. We brought a small sample of this here to Denver for you to sample. Truly a one of a kind, unique brew.
