COLLABORATION NO. 7 – OAK-AGED LAGER

Built on a base of two-row pale malt, Sonoran White Wheat, honey malt and corn grits, Collaboration No. 7 – Oak-Aged Lager showcases Riesling grape juice, peaches and lemon zest in a crisp lager hopped with Nelson Sauvin, Lemondrop and Hallertau Blancs. Following fermentation with the Ayinger lager strain, Collaboration No. 7 was briefly aged on Cuvee No. 5 Tank Staves, French oak staves that impart fruit, spice, toast and tannins similar to aging in a fresh/virgin French oak barrel. At 6% ABV and 16 IBUs, Collaboration No. 7 Oak-Aged Lager pours a brilliant golden color with tight, off-white lacing. Bright aromas of peach and Riesling grapes mingle with the tropical fruit notes provided by subtle hopping. Lemon zest accentuates the naturally citrusy character of the beer as the malt bill forms a slightly sweet, honey-like base from which the chosen regional ingredients shine. French oak character lends a drying effect resulting in a bright, fruity lager that finishes incredibly crisp. Bottle conditioned with champagne yeast, Collaboration No. 7 – Oak-Aged Lager has fluffy, effervescent carbonation that scrubs the palate and begs for another sip. Available on draft and in four-packs of 12-ounce bottles, Collaboration No. 7 – Oak-Aged Lager will be distributed through the Boulevard distribution network and should be available in the coming weeks in locations that typically see Smokestack Series Limited Release beers like Saison Brett, Love Child Blends and previous collaboration projects.

Knotty Squirrel Imperial Blonde

In the Summer of 2016, the brewers of Granite Falls Brewing Company and Blind Squirrel Brewery joined forces to brew an adventurous and original style of beer. Duties were assigned by brewer: one to the malt bill, one to the hop schedule, and one to the water profile. The result is the tantalizing beer before you. Bright and tropical hops dominate the aroma, but are quickly followed by a deep, biscuity malt character. The flavor is fruity and slightly caramel, with a bright honey-like note and a lingering touch of sweetness. The clean and bright finish belies the imperial nature of this ale...you should always be careful with squirrels, as you may discover, to your surprise, they are much more knotty than you thought!

Metallurgy Sour Collection: Pear

Metallurgy is the technique or science of working with metals, and the sour ales in this unique collection are aged for about a year in stainless steel rather than oak barrels to maintain sour ales in their purest form. This metal-aged purity and simplicity is further complemented by relying solely on the wild yeasts and other microflora naturally occurring on the fruits to beautifully and spontaneously sour these beers, bridging all gaps between ciders, wines and ales. Sour Pear Ale presents with a pronounced aroma of fresh pears and Brettanomyces with light straw color, a mouthfeel and body that is velvety soft from fruit skins, similar to sauvignon blanc wine, and a bright flavor evocative of ripe, fleshy pears.
