Traditional American Amber ale brewed with a touch of rye. Medium bodied with a malty backbone. Willamette and centennial hops give a slight hop presence, but not overpowering. Bold dark red color with a copper head.

Redoubt Bay, south of Sitka, is a favorite fishing spot for Sockeye Salmon. Also called Red Salmon, this famous species turns bright red and green before spawning in the summer. Our red, also a local favorite, gets its rich color from roasted barley. A blend of four hops gives it big flavor and aroma.

This raspberry wheat beer uses a raspberry puree as well as natural raspberry juice along with pale wheat malt to bring about a wonderfully refreshing brew. This beer starts with a subtle sweetness and moderate tartness, and finishes with a palate-cleansing raspberry finish.

The number one obstacle for blondes wishing to go rouge is figuring out which side they're currently on. I suppose our Renegade Blonde is no exception. It's an ale. Believe me I checked... But when it's young, it has a crisp, malty flavor with a refreshingly bitter finish, not unlike a lager. With age, it develops a mild, fruity character, like an ale.

The Renegade is a malty extra special bitter ale, ruby red in color, and hopped to balance malt and suite the style. Like its namesake, the beer comes on with a bold sweetness, has a smooth full body feel, and a finish that snares the palate.

The centennial hop is the centerpiece of our American Red Ale. Reprise pushes the limits of a single hop with an amazing bouquet and stunning bitterness all the way through. The citrus character provides an experience you will want to repeat. Reprise is crimson in color with aromas of citrus fruit and biscuit malt.

Conceived in a dimly lit room on a blistery cold night in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, but born and raised here in Marshall Michigan. The Reserve Special is the oldest of all beers in the Dark Horse family. It has an incredibly “thick” presence and when poured into a glass its color is so dark it’s eerie. The flavors explode onto your taste buds with heavy malt, roast, and chocolate, but stay very balanced. The Reserve Special Black Ale has a hard time being called a stout or porter but it fits nicely into the category of a delicious strong black ale.

During the fermentation of the first batch of this Abbey-style dubbel, the yeast "died" and was "resurrected" by brewer Chris Cashell. Made with five types of barley malt and lots of sugar without being too sweet.

Retread is a highly hopped beer that is very well balanced with the malt backbone of Crystal60 and Chocolate malts. Bittered with Magnum and Columbus hops, Flavor and Aroma additions are made with Columbus, Magnum, Ahtanum and Centennial. We then vigorously dry hop this beer with 3 pounds of hops in a 2BBL batch. Ahtanum, Chinook, and Amarillo are used for a very pleasant aroma.

A traditional German pilsner undertaken with a reverent but decidedly American approach. Employing 100% Weyermann malts including Pilsner, Carafoam and Munich lends a subtly expressive base for this light-bodied, straw-hued pale lager. Noble and noble-derived hops including German Select, Saphir and Hallertau Gold (grown by only a single farm in all of Bavaria) impart aromas of earth, grass and spice. Our classic Bavarian lager yeast produces a clean beer which finishes dry and beckons you to sip again. We dry hop this brew with more Saphir, Select and Hallertau Gold, but we don’t get heavy-handed with it, allowing the more traditional aspects to speak audibly without shouting (in German).
