Skol

It’s easy to understand how Skol is Brazil's most popular beer. Brazilians love this clear, crisp pilsner that goes down smooth, with a perfect amount of carbonation and enough flavor to to give it a little bite. Skol is a clear, straw colored pilsner with a thin white head and aromas of grain. Whether it is an advertisement on the beach, or a vendor selling ice-cold cans on the streets, Skol is found everywhere in Brazil. Because it’s in such strong demand, you’ll find it served in most restaurants, bars, clubs and retail establishments throughout the country. Skol is easy to drink, making it a perfect beer to drink with meat dishes and spicy food. An interesting feature of the Skol bottle is a small logo on the label, which turns blue when the beer is at its perfect temperature to drink. When the logo turn blue it says "Skol Gelada" (Skol is cold), to tell you when the beer is cold enough to drink. The best Brazilian beer is now available in Australia, where it is gaining the popularity it enjoys at home. It can now be found at restaurants and premium bars in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. DRINK IT ICE COLD !

Sky Blue Golden Ale

For those desiring a lighter beer that still has hand-crafted integrity, this beer is a Kolsch style ale made famous in its namesake city of Cologne (Koln in German). This thirst-quenching brew is spritzy, not too malty, with the pleasing aroma of imported Hallertauer hops. While fermented warm like all ales, Kolsch beer undergoes a cold aging period like a lager which results in a brew that is complex yet easy to drink.

Slanted Porch

Charleston is a pretty kickass place to live if you ask us, and that's thanks to a lot of little kickass details. We've honored some of those details in other beers - pluff mud, for example. When it came time to add a new regular beer to the roster, historic downtown came to mind, especially historic homes. There's one feature they all seem to share - a slanted porch. Because of the unstable, coastal land they all sit on, the porches (trust us, they ALL have porches) start to slant after years of the ground settling underneath them. Some slant a little, and some slant a lot, making no two porches the same, another one of those aforementioned details. Slanted Porch Pale Ale, like its namesake, will always be a little different. We've had our eye on a year-round pale ale, but we're not sticking to a single recipe. Expect an ABV ranging from 5% to 6%, and an ever-changing hop profile. The first batch will clock in around 5.6% ABV, with Centennial and Citra hops used in the kettle and Cascade for dry-hopping.

Slap Fight

Slap Fight will woo you in with a West Coast-style malt bill, but slaps you across the face with its tropical hop profile. Light in body, heavy in character, this IPA features Munich and Crystal pale malts for a clean, rich mouthfeel. Comet, Equinox and Mosaic hops lend a pungent herbal aroma, peppered with hints of papaya, orange and grapefruit. Present this beer to a friend. Slingshot

Don't let the Slingshot's color fool you, it has a light body, and smooth, subtle complexities that will remind you to never judge a book by its cover. Or, more likely, it'll just remind you that beer is a pretty darn good thing. Dunkel is the German word for dark and so has the color and toasted flavor associated with dark beers. Yet as a lager it ferments out clean with a light body that many associate with beers of a lesser complication. Thus you have the pairing of the best of both worlds, a dark beer you can drink all night. Dunkel originates in the beer halls of Munich. One of the oldest styles, for centuries these dark lagers were all that could be made. In the past 100 years advances in technology made lighter colors possible, but nothing compares to the dark smooth malty flavor of Dunkel.

Slingshot American Craft Lager

A young shepherd named David defeated the Goliath American lager market by using his Slingshot to fling a cascade, saaz, summit, citra and crystal hop into a smooth, refreshing, seasonal brew. The result: a victorious, sessionable summer sensation with plenty of hoppy goodness, and a hint of rye on the finish. David's hand-crafted Slingshot will prove a beer-force to be reckoned with at any summer gathering. To honor David and his Slingshot, Shmaltz raises its glass to the little guys who are making a BIG impact in the beer industry at large. Look for He'brew's only lager on draft, or in 12 ounce bottles as part of the Hops In HE'BREW Variety Pack this summer. Malts: Specialty 2-Row, Caramel Pils, Rye Ale, Crystal Rye, Vienna, Wheat, Flaked Oats Hops: Cascade, Saaz, Summit, Citra, Crystal Certified Kosher by KSA

Small Craft Warning

Arguably our most well-balanced beer, Small Craft Warning seems at once hop-forward and malt-forward; our brewers debate over which flavor force prevails in the beer. Small Craft exemplifies a robust pilsner—it’s crisp, well-carbonated, and slightly sweet. The beer is characterized by a firm malt backbone and a pronounced hop character. A fine aroma, from an array of hops, completes this quaffable beer.

Smashbomb Atomic IPA

"Holy Hop, Batman, this beer has aroma." Hops are casted nine different times, it’s a breath-deep-and-shudder-with-pleasure kind of scent that’s all from the Citra hops. With a high alpha acid of 11%, Citra has a cacauphony of flavours and aromas --Citrus, passion fruit, grapefruit, lime, melon, lychee fruit, pineapple, mango, and papaya – and dominates this beer. Smashbombs olfactory tropical explosion shockwaves your face every time you lift the meringue foam towards you. It’s like the ecru-coloured top of a beer pie before it gives up and grips the glass. You can see the Victory malt’s signature in the amber lights in what is primarily a deep golden beer. And, yes, don’t be fooled --there’s malt going on here, too, as you’ll see in the firey body of this ale that makes Smashbomb Atomic look like it radiates its own energy. With the first taste, Smashbomb’s 70 IBUs are pronounced. This brew is a little bitter, but bitter like a grapefruit with three tablespoons of sugar on top. It’s also incredibly drinkable. The oddity that’ll keep you tipping the glass is that as this citrus peel front subsides, you actually gleen the sweet flavours of the Victory and Crystal malts. Then, as the bread-puddin’ bicuity sweetness of the malts are chased by the dry, tropical flavour of Citra and the fruit punch bouquet is all in your face with each sip, it’s all is so damn intriguing, you’ll be driven to keep on sampling...and sampling.

SMOKED HONEY

Tasting Notes: Nose: Light wood smoke, ribs, bacon, malt sweetness. Palate: This beer drinks quite a bit lighter than it looks. A light smoke taste will greet the palate, moving into distinct malt notes of biscuit, maybe a touch of raisin. Very light bodied, this beer finishes with a tart cloying taste that dries the palate. This is essentially unsweetened honey. It coats the mouth and the smokiness will build as you progress through the pint. Other Notes: Smoked Honey is not a heavy tasting beer. It is also not a "sweet" tasting beer, and it actually finishes rather dry. What makes this beer different from traditional honey beers is that the honey is completely fermented out, leaving little residual sweetness. The lightly smoked character comes from the beechwood smoke malt we use, which has a very delicate — rather than overly aggressive — smoky taste.
