Smoked Porter

A complex beer, with layers of flavors unfolding as this beer slides down your throat. Before the introduction of indirect-fired malt kilns, all beers had a smoky flavor. Today only a handful of brewers produce beer reminiscent of those of the past. We use imported German smoked malt to add depth and complexity to our Smoked Porter. Aromas of smoked wood, licorice, and dark fruit. The flavor is a balance of smokiness, roasted malt, coffee, and malty sweetness.

Smokin'

Smokin’ is an American take on a classic Rauchbier (German for smoked beer). It’s brewed with Bamberg malt smoked over a beechwood fire, hopped with Hallertau Mittelfrüh, and fermented with California ale yeast. Smokin’ is aromatic and flavorful, just shy of “bacon in a glass”.

Smokin’ Joe

This beer is named after the great Joe Frazier, world heavyweight champion in the early ' 70, unyielding opponent of Muhammad Ali, who battled in three memorable bouts, considered to be among the toughest and thrilling in boxing history. His coach had nicknamed smokin' Joe because he said he could let out the smoke from the gloves. This Smoked Porter has ebony color, intense and deep, with bruni. The foam is high, buttery texture and nutty color. The aroma is clean and pronounced: clear presence of roasted malts and obvious smoked notes reminiscent of speck and the peat, followed by coffee, barley and chocolate. The palate shows a medium body, soft and consistent, characterized by a mouth full and extended. Amaro of medium intensity and persistence, smoked the average returns in their mouths but it is subtle and is accompanied by the scents of roasted malts.

Smuggler Wheat Ale

This is our unfiltered Hefeweizen style Wheat Ale, designed for outdoorsmen and outdoorswomen who want a refreshing brew after a fun day of making the most of Aspen’s amazing landscape. Whether its mountain biking, hiking, fishing, running, or just going for a stroll, Smuggler Wheat is what you need to reenergize after a day in the outdoors. The low hop and therefore low bitterness of this beer means it is truly a thirst quencher that also provides much-needed nutrients after an active day. Thankfully for all you outdoorsy people out there, the beginnings of both the Hunter Creek Trail and Smuggler Mountain Road are located really, really close to the brewery. These trails offer every level of difficulty from the casual nature walk to the clinically insane climb. Smuggler Wheat is named after the nearby mountain and its historic silver mine, Smuggler Mountain and Smuggler Mine. It was from Smuggler Mine that North America’s largest silver nugget was unearthed. Before Aspen was known as a ski and/or vacation town, it was a thriving mining town, and we at Aspen Brewery don’t want people to forget the city’s rich and dynamic history. So, celebrate the days of old, and raise a pint of Smuggler Wheat!

Snapshot

Snap! You just captured an unfiltered wheat beer full of refreshment and a flash of tart at the finish. Smile-inducing aromas of citrus hops jump from the nose, accompanied by the sweetness of coriander and grains of paradise. Brewed with wheat and pale malt, Snapshot pours a hazy, lemon-yellow with bright-white lacing. But the real enticement is the snap of tart. New Belgium’s affinity for sour beers led to the in-process blending of lactobacillus to pucker up Snapshot’s base. An extra step to acidify and beautify and get this beer ready for its close up.

Snow Drop

Once upon a time German beer was only deemed pure if it contained the four orthodox ingredients of brewing: water, barley, hops, and yeast. During this time, an ale known as Köttbusser was outlawed because it contained oats, honey, and molasses. Over the centuries since its prohibition, Köttbusser became a lost brewing style. At Grimm Brothers, we’ve resurrected this refreshing ale with a kiss of hops. You don’t need a magic mirror to know that Snowdrop is the fairest in the land. Recommended by dwarves everywhere!

So Folkin' Hoppy IPA

At Funky Bow Brewing Company we love to hear the vibrations of excellent music coming from all corners of the brewery. We also love standing in the middle of a seamlessly never ending hop fields, taking in the sites and aromas of one of nature’s great wonders, Humulus lupulus. We called this beer, So Folkin’ Hoppy. A delicious caramel malt backbone to balance the generous addition of hops, all the while fermenting with a clean tasting yeast to allow the true flavors, aromas and sounds to bust through. Soft Parade

Soft Parade is a gourmet specialty pour that is brewed with toasted rye flakes and two-row malted barley. Loaded with pureed strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries, we refer to this fermented potion as a fruit infused rye ale. The result is a refreshing fruit delicacy that is easy to drink, visually appealing, and finishes dry. Soft Parade was originally developed because Joe Short wanted to create a beer that incorporated a medley of berries, had a great color, and appealed to wine drinkers. The name Soft Parade stemmed from two moments in Joe Short’s life. First, because Joe worked as a brewer at the Traverse Brewing Company and The Doors album, The Soft Parade, played every day at the end of the brew shift. The second moment occurred when Joe was driving by himself, flipping through CD’s in his car, and came across The Soft Parade album again. At the time, The Soft Parade beer had not been named and it dawned on Joe that the medley of fruit infusing into the golden beer reminded him of a soft parade. That day the beer was named!
