After Battle Pale Ale

A medium-bodied, bittered American-style pale ale. The ale is a deep golden, honey-like colour with a medium head that dissipates slowly. The smell is crackin', with aromas of citrus and passionfruit that carries through to the initial sip. The Simcoe/Citra combination of hops present heady fruit notes, which are amplified through the dry-hopping, producing intense flavour and aromas without the additional bitterness. That said, there's a decent bitterness providing a sharpness, but is moderated and perfectly balanced by the subtle toffee sweetness from the malts and tropical fruit flavours.

Afterglow Flanders Golden Ale

This is a special brew that Brewmaster Glen Sprouse first formulated and brewed for his wedding in 2001. It is brewed with a Saison yeast that is very attenuative. It is also dosed with a british ale yeast late in primary fermentation to "clean it up a little" and then an Abbey yeast is added for secondary fermentation. The base malt is all German Pilsener and Munich Malt (as is the typical practice of most of the high quality Belgian brewers of pale beers) with a bit of red winter wheat thrown in for body and mouthfeel and just a touch of coriander for the finish. We use a little Belgian Light Candi Sugar and a little Special B Malt to add to the Belgian character. Five mash rests are employed to improve the clarity, pH and distribution of sugars. And, four hop additions are made in the boil using a combination of German, Styrian and Czech Hops. This beer gets considerably better with about six months to a year under its belt. 5 Seasons will be serving it throughout this period, slowly meting out the kegs on a monthly basis to ensure it lasts until next year's batch is ready.

Against the Grain Hybrid IPA

Our hybrid IPA takes the classic West coast style IPA grain bill and hop schedule and meshes it with Belgian yeast to create a dank hop-bomb with the subtle nuances of pepper and esters derived from the Belgian yeast used to ferment this batch in the background. We wanted to create a hop-monster IPA and seized the opportunity to re-pitch our Saison yeast and see what would happen. The results are in and we're quite pleased and we're sure you will be too.

Agassiz Acai

We brewed Agassiz with more than 60 percent rice. However we didn’t stop there. We added cooked rice to the fermenter (yes, the fermenter) to try to leach a bunch of the starches and rice character from the rice (we all know that light beers made with rice have no rice character and virtually no character at all). We then used a sake yeast to ferment the beer. After fermenting we threw a kink into the “sake beer” idea and added acai puree to get a nice fruit balance on top of the starchy rice backbone.

Using a blend of Anejo and Reposado barrels and aged for a minimum of ten months, Agave Maria has hints of black pepper, sweet sugar, oatmeal, and oak with an earthy, bitter smoked chocolate on the finish. The base beer, a new Agave strong ale, was created specifically to pair with the spiciness of the Tequila, adding a sweet honey-like quality to the beer.

Agave Nectar Ale

When most of us picture a vacation to Mexico, we think of white sandy beaches and crashing waves. Not our brewmaster. His trip itinerary consisted of visiting agave fields and tasting local beers that use natural agave nectar. Lucky for us, because now we have Blue Moon® Agave Nectar Ale to enjoy as a result. Agave nectar is a natural sweetener similar to honey, but with a nuttier taste. Our limited summer release is crafted with agave nectar and white wheat for a subtle sweetness and a balanced taste with a smooth finish. It’s like a little shade in a bottle.

Agaveras Agave IPA

It’s no secret… the Twisted brewers love to explore new ingredients and flavor combinations. In the course of experimentation, our crew discovered agave nectar. While the contribution of this unique sugar source is subtle where taste is concerned, it is crucial for achieving the beer’s super-light body while maintaining the strength of this full-flavored IPA.
