Agents Of Chaos

The memories of the Trappist special dark ales lingered on long after our trip to Belgium was over. This is our homage to those amazing beers. Dark to the point of blackness with a toasted brown head, this ale is full of decadent dark fruits and caramel with a hint of the high ABV hiding beneath it all. Great with roasted meats or as an after dinner drink in place of port. An experience in a glass that does not disappoint. Best served slightly warmer than you are used to, letting all of those flavors escape.

Agitated Aardvark Imperial IPA

Imperial ales were originally brewed for export to the Russian Imperial Court during the nineteenth century. High strength India pale ales were aggressively hopped for balance and preservation and sent on the journey north to be enjoyed by only the highest of royalty in Russia. American brewers have taken this style into their own hands and fermenters and this beer is a product of what is now considered an American craft beer revolution. Heavy amounts of two-row malt and northwestern hops dominate the aroma of this pale golden colored ale. Strong, pungent, resiny fumes waft from it an may cause you to salivate before you even have a sip. Pinching bitterness tingles the sides and tip of your tongue and a light grain maltiness rounds out your first taste. Hop bitterness lingers but a clean finish clears out your palate. Like hops? They like you too…Cheers!

Agrestic

This liberation begins its journey as DBA then continues through a “chrysalis” process involving 87% French and 13% American Oak barrels, and our proprietary collection of micro flora. To blend, we selected beer matured eight to 24 months in barrels, creating a synergistic beer. Immediately, toasted oak and lemon pith swirl on the nose and palate, followed by an amazing harmony of vanilla, coconut, Earl Grey tea and spice. The finish is crisp, with mouth-watering acidity and chewy tannins. Since we age, blend and bottle these beers once a year, there will be slight variation with each release. A santé!

Agrume Bocq

After the Applebocq and the Redbocq, the Brasserie du Bocq is pleased to announce the birth of the Agrumbocq … The idea for the Agrumbocq arose first of all in the mind of our master brewer. Once again, the starting point is our white beer made by top fermentation to which mandarin juice and the natural aromas of grapefruit and lime are added. Its cloudy appearance, its natural pink grapefruit colour, its fine slightly pinkish head and its pleasantly fruity fragrance are certainly going to delight the most delicate palates. A perfect balance is achieved through the sweet and acid taste of the citrus fruit and the slight bitterness that it releases. It is defined as a very light and refreshing beer. You are advised to drink it very cool. It is ideal after sport! It has barely 3% alcohol volume. The Agrumbocq is currently available in kegs and 25-cl bottles.

Agua Caliente

The result of a “8 hands brewing” with Toccalmatto, Opperbacco and Brewfist breweries, it is our own interpretation of a classical British IPA. The intense gold color pairs the rich taste and the full body if this beer. The high IBU (about 70) is well balanced by the sweetness of the malts. British hops were used according to tradition, but in a very peculiar way involving the final hop-back. The beer aged in a wooden vat to give the sensation of the long journeys IPA made to reach India. The final dry-hopping after fermentation added freshness and smoothness.

We replaced 100% of our brewing water with Maple sap straight from locally tapped Maple trees, which lends an underlying wood-like character similar to the effect of oak barrel aging. Akademik Bourbon Black Ale

Brewed and housed in bourbon barrels since last January 2014. The flavor is intense- anise, molasses, and spicy phenolics come to mind. The barrel character is subtle but overall this beer wears its alcohol on its sleeve; sit down with a bottle or else bring a tripod. We've initially baptized this beer 'Akademik,' drawing on the Akademik Shokalski Russian research vessel that was stuck in Antarctic ice last January for over a month (our fermentation exhibited similar characteristics). We rescued the stuck fermentation with a strong yeast strain whereby the 2 strains melded into a wonderful experiment.

Akevitt Porter

Akevitt Porter is a very special brew, this is a powerful porter that has been aged in old Akevitt barrels for several months. We use this technique to blend the 2 flavours and the process has produced a very special beer. We think the flavour of this beer must be very close to how historic porters tasted in the old days when all beers were kept in oak barrels. The wood aging has made this beer fantastically round and smooth, the spill over of the Akevitt flavours and of course the wood flavours play together. All this combined with the darker malts makes it unique. And the aroma is so powerful and interesting it just makes you beg for a sip.
