Angry Man

Murray's Angry Man Pale Ale is a classic US pale ale. Australian, English and German malts balance the huge citrus/pine hop aroma and flavour strongly influenced by generous use of US Centennial and New Zealand Motueka and Pacifica hops. A brilliant light-golden colour, Murray's Angry Man Pale Ale has a full-bodied finish and complex character. This is well balanced with biscuity/toffee flavours from selected caramalts.

Angry Monk

The Angry Monk doesn’t really fit into a specific beer category or meet specific style guidelines. Therefore it is what it is – which is to say that it displays a very Belgian character due to the yeast strain. You may notice that this beer is very different from our St. Marks Dubbel. That is because we use an entirely different yeast strain for this one. The aroma is heavy on the caramelized banana side with a dash of licorice. We don’t filter the Angry Monk, nor any of our other Belgian-style beers, however, one distinguishing characteristic of this particular yeast strain is that it is highly flocculating which means it leaves the beer very clear and bright without sacrificing any flavors.

Angry Pirate - Aye Aye PA

Being a pirate isn't all rum and buried treasure. Shipwrecks. Scurvy. Termites in your peg leg. Your parrot dies. Then a son of a biscuit eater steals your hook. Savvy? That’s why we made “Angry Pirate” – A double IPA with a hop flavor cutthroat enough to scrape off the day’s barnacles and a smooth citrus finish to parley with your crew. Because a good brew will brighten the worst day – even an Angry Pirate's. So cast off from whatever ails ya and hoist a bottle with your mates. Aye Aye, Cap'n!

Made from the same recipe that our great, great, great Grandfather Angus MacDougal used in Scotland, this traditional Scottish ale is second to none. A hint of the peated malt comes through in the nose to make the profile of this beer very unique. Balanced with a modest amount of Willamette and Liberty hops Angus MacDougal's Scottish Ale was created for the true malt lover. Just try one and you will find out why.

Anja

The second beer in our Pro-Am series is an extremely refreshing and tasty Belgian Pale Ale. This beer starts with an intriguing, complex bouquet of clove, banana, bubblegum and spicy esters. Soft, sweet flavors of doughy malt, vanilla and pear come in to balance the yeast notes. A nice, crisp bitterness from the German Saphir hops help to round out this well-balanced brew. Traditional Belgian “Single” or “Table” beers are meant to be served as everyday sessionable beer often enjoyed at meals. Our version was a collaborative effort between the Hangar 24 Brewing Staff and homebrewer Scott Gaastra. Scott’s original recipe beat out 245 other entries to win our 2nd Annual Homebrew Competition in May 2011. Scott then helped our staff to recreate his beer on our brewing system. This beer will be entered into the 2011 GABF Pro-Am competition.

Ann

Ann is the wine barrel aged version of Anna (1902-?), our grandfather’s sister as well as the name of our Honey Saison. In her honor, we fill French Oak wine barrels with honey saison and allow the beer to mature in the presence of our resident microflora. After many months, a beautifully complex beer emerges--Anna becomes Ann. Naturally carbonated and dipped in beeswax, Ann displays the microflora of her landscape. This the ale that I dreamed to have shared with Anna.

Annapurna Black Ale

As the fires in the hearth have started and the days are shortened, there is a cold, dark feeling in this “shoulder season”. The seasonal beer goes through the same progression. We wanted to make a darker beer that had a lot of hop character blending the recent harvest with the upcoming winter. To accomplish the feat we used plenty of de-bittered black malt and Cascadian style hops. To accompany the shoulder season, the beer retains a thinner body with a nice blend of NW hops and the dark malts. We’ll call it a NW Black ale, as opposed to a Cascadian dark ale, since Annapurna has more dark malts that share the stage with the hop character.

Annealed Coffee Stout

When steel is annealed, it is heated up and cooled slowly to make for a more malleable metal. Similarly, this variant of our famous stout has been heated up with a higher ABV and then slowly cold-infused with locally-roasted, ethically sourced coffee beans from Winchester, VA’s own Hopscotch Coffee. Careful selection of ingredients, including the addition of Midnight Wheat, allows for a thick, frothy head and deep, dark color.
