Our cross between an American Wheat and Dunkelweizen. Not as dark as a traditional traditional dunkelweizen but a stronger wheat flavor than a typical American wheat.
South German-Style Dunkel Weizen / Dunkel Weissbier
A true English original bitter, the low alcohol content will allow you to drink it all day long. The British malt and hops really make Backhouse the taste of England in a pint glass. Cheers!
A refreshing amber colored Bock brewed with German malt and noble variety hops, and a Munich lager yeast. Cool fermented and lagered to maturity, this beer is smooth, satisfying and malty without being cloying – aiming at the drinkability of a Sierra Nevada Glissade but to a genuine Single Bock style. Named after a Native American princess who met her end over the eponymous Berkshire County waterfall - the highest in the state of Massachusetts.
Think of a smooth Amber Ale with a hint of Basil in the background… delicious! Don’t think pizza, think an earthy beer. The deep amber color and crisp head give way to just enough hops to add to the flavor but not too many to overpower that Earthy Basil aroma. Anyone can do hoppy, we try and do tasty.
(Honey and Basil Farmhouse Ale)
A lively, yet delicate Farmhouse Ale brewed with Riverbend Malt, local Orange Blossom Honey, and fresh Basil from right outside Legion’s front door.
Basil beer is a base beer of Maibock with fresh Basil added. We grow the Basil right here at the Brewpub. We harvest the leaves and add them to the conditioning tank. The heady aroma of the Basil infuses well with the malty sweetness of the Maibock. The Basil flavor layers nicely without being overwhelming.
Fermented with fresh basil and mint, this off-dry cider starts savory and floral, complemented perfectly by a tart, clean finish.
APPLES: Smith, Fuji, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Gala
Marzen/Oktoberfest amber German lager, righ malty flavor balanced with German hops. Fermented cool and lagered for five weeks to smooth and mellow the flavor of this lager beer. Enjoy this seasonal PROST!
A beer designed for the extreme hop head. This massive West Coast Triple IPA boasts 10.5% ABV and over 100 IBU. Double dry hopped for an even more intense aroma.
A blend of a spontaneously fermented farmhouse ale aged on plums and currants for 8 months and a 100% brett ale with raspberries aged in a white wine barrel for 18 months.
Basin Mills Brown – Named after Basin Mills Falls which is the section of rapids on the Penobscot between the Tough End and the Basin here in Orono. This is a perfectly balanced American Brown. It has a slight floral hop character and a smooth roasty flavor making it a great session beer.
Basis is a tart, dry, and refreshing blond sour ale that serves as a base beer for many of our sours and is refreshing, crisp and delicious on its own. Aromas of fruit and funk are followed by tart and tropical flavors after aging in wine barrels for 3-6 months.
Inspired by local home-brewing legend Ted Holloway, our Cream Ale uses basmati rice to impart a subtle yet distinct almost white-popcorn basmati aromatic note. Grounded by a base of Pilsner malt and just enough Liberty hops to balance, this beer was designed to be a nuanced exercise in simplicity.
