Bass Ackwards Berryblue Ale

Bass Ackwards Berryblue Ale is brewed during the Maine blueberry harvest. It is an unfiltered, all-natural mild pale ale made with Maine blueberries. It is a refreshing, well balanced beer that has a crisp, fruity aroma and finishes clean and dry. The name Bass Ackwards Berryblue Ale is for its unconventional use of only fresh blueberries in the fermenter without the use of flavorings added, unlike most blueberry ales. The result is a surprisingly simple drinkability that enables you to drink more than one. Try a Black and Blue, our Bass Ackwards mixed with our rich Lake Trout Stout.

Batch #1

For our first batch we wanted to show respect to the tradition of Belgian and French farmhouse brewers. We start with a mixed field grain bill of pilsner malt, raw wheat, oats, spelt and rye, ferment with our house saison blend and then add our house Brett blend at bottling to develop some light funk. We dedicated this batch to the Belgian brewing scientist Jean De Clerck who helped to restart brewing in Belgium after WWII and went on to write a two volume set of brewing textbooks that are still required reading today.

This ale could be considered to be on steroids, but it is a drinkable quaff. Subtle citrus tones with a nice little spicy hop tone to back it up. Citrus in the aroma and the spice on the back end followed with a sharp bitterness.

Believe it or not, this is the first commercial beer brewed in Bridgeport, PA in a very long time. Possibly the first beer ever. We took a classic pale ale recipe and finished it with locally grown, fresh picked Chinook and Columbus hops. More than just a calibration beer, this brew is the start of great things to come.

Batch #10 Berliner Weisse - Brown Bag Series

Our Brown Bag Series Berliner Weisse is a tart, fruity, highly effervescent and refreshing ale. Relatively low in alcohol at only 3.4%, this highly sessionable brew has a light body and a very dry finish. A regional specialty of Berlin, it was referred to by Napoleon's troops in 1809 as "the Champagne of the north" due to its lively and elegant character. Described by some as the most purely refreshing beer in the world, only two traditional breweries still produce this style.

Batch #1000: Bryeian

Join us in excitement as we release the winning brew from our Batch #1000 homebrew contest - Bryeian! Hard to believe that we've brewed 1,000+ batches of beer and for those who have been with us throughout the years, probably surprising to see that the winner is a hoppy ale! A cascadian, dark rye ale to be exact. Brian Pramov and Bryan Keas, a pair of homebrewers from Denver put together this winning recipe for us and it shined brightly in our competition. The roast of the dark malts, the spice of the rye and the intense hop character combine for a fantastic experience.

Batch #2

A smokey, black ale aged with whole coffee beans. Our grain bill starts with over 60% smoked malt, flaked barley for mouthfeel and brown and black malts for a complex roast character. The coffee from Mountain Air Roasters compliments the malt flavor but doesn’t overwhelm the beer. We dedicated this beer to David Lynch, one of our favorite film directors whose love of coffee and cigarettes is well known. His first film, Eraserhead is our brewer’s favorite movie of all time.

First debuted at the 2009 Magic City Brewfest as the first Imperial Stout legally brewed in Alabama. This bottle conditioned version was brewed especially for the County Line Series. A huge, viscous, full-bodied, dark as night, imperial stout yet somehow amazingly drinkable. Big aromas and flavors, including cherries and raspberries, roasted malts, dark chocolate, and spiced rum. It's recommeded to serve in the low to mid 50s as the flavors really explode when allowed to come up in temperature. 72 bottles.

A completely fictional style, a Gose is a salty, tart wheat beer that is usually spiced with coriander. We used local Miso Masters white miso to get the salinity and pickled ginger for the spiciness. Super refreshing and perfect for a picnic or after a hike…or just sitting on the porch. (3.7% ABV) We dedicate this beer to Yoko Ono whose music may be an acquired taste, but without it we would never have the band Melt Banana and we can’t imagine a world without Melt Banana…

murti) This is a historical recreation of what the original IPA tasted like back when it was actually shipped to India. Massively hopped with traditional East Kent Goldings (140 calculated IBUs) and heavily dry hopped the beer then was aged with Brettanomyces for 4 months and then an additional month in the bottle. Huge funk in the nose blending perfectly with the fruity hops and yeast character. Taste the history! Everybody knows that they sent Pale Ale to India (a.k.a. India Pale Ale) but nobody seems to realize that they sent WAY more porter over there. In order to make the voyage the brewers treated porter the way they did pale ale, i.e. doubled the bittering hops and dry hop the heck out of it. This isn’t your normal porter: intense roast character from the traditional grain bill of pale, amber, brown and black malts and a firm finish from 90 IBUs from East Kent Goldings hops. Think of it as the original black IPA! (6.1% ABV). This beer is dedicated to Lemmy, the bassist and frontman for the band Motorhead.
