Brewtality Espresso Black Bier

Assistant Brewer Jeremiah works primarily at Midnight Sun Brewing Company with regular hours at the AK Rock Gym and the occasional shift or two Kaladi Brothers Coffee. To keep up with his weekly work schedule, he enjoys locally roasted coffee in the morning--OK, sometimes in the afternoon as well--and locally brewed beer in the evening-- OK, sometimes in the morning as well. This beer brings two of his worlds together as an incredible antidote for hibernation.

This ale is a collaboration among 14 local breweries all using the same basic recipe but each showcasing a different hop variety. Ours is made with East Kent Goldings, the classic hop of English ale brewing. We used the hops in the mash, multiple times in the kettle, and after boiling to really bring out the hop flavor and aroma qualities. 48 IBU.

Brick & Beam IPA

First brewed for the colonial British in India, oak casks of IPA survived in the holds of ships sailing through the Indian Ocean. Since hops and alcohol help to preserve beer, it had lots of both. Although it isn't aged in oak, ours has a powerful hop character.

Brick Arch Porter

Brick Arch [brik arch]: a railroad term for the area inside the firebox just above the door. It helps radiate the heat back to the fuel, wood or coal, to get the hottest fire possible and burn the fuel most efficiently. Black as night with a tan head that doesn’t hang around. Dark baker’s chocolate, toffee, caramel, roast, ash, slight smoke, and alcohol in the background. Silky dark/baker’s chocolate, caramel, toffee, velvety, slightly smoky, and lingering long finish that dries from the dark malts. This beer is rich and delivers a complex dark malt profile. The perfect night cap. This beer could be paired with a great flourless chocolate cake and raspberry sauce. It could do bread pudding as a nice compliment. Let your imagination go wild. Robust porter is just as the name states. It has more going on than a brown porter. Robust porters are darker in color because of more dark malt additions. They can be higher in alcohol and hoppier as well. Basically a robust porter is more of everything you might like about porters. We take our interpretation up a notch by adding a touch of smoked malt to give it a slight smoky finish, Enjoy!

Brickhouse Brown Ale

Our autumn seasonal is an English style Nut Brown Ale. These beers tend to emphasize the malt flavors and have a lower than average alcohol content. Our version is crisp, with lots of caramel, nutty, and chocolate flavors. The finish is crisp, with just enough European Hops to balance the malt. The Brown is only about 4.4% alcohol by volume, so it is a smooth drinking ale for the beginning of autumn.

Bricktop Brown

The average human consumes .5oz of beer per sip. To drain a 16oz glass would require on average 32 sips. Now unlike pigs that devour their food, the rate at which you consume your pint depends on how big of a fan you are of this delicious malt forward English Brown. Brewed with English caramel and brown malts and an English London Ale yeast, this Brown has chocolate and biscuit notes with fruity esters for your enjoyment. And Bricktop wants you happy, because when you are happy Bricktop is happy. And the two people you want to keep happy are Bricktop and any man who owns more than 16 pigs….

Bridal Ale

The country ales of France inspire our Fall seasonal beer, Bridal Ale. Bridal Ale was originally brewed in celebration of the wedding of two Pelican staff members, brewer Travis Zeilstra and server Jen Pelletier. This year's edition of Bridal Ale features a deep copper color and a rich, toasted malt character. Subtle floral hints and fruity notes punctuate the aroma, while a slightly sweet malt flavor and warming effect characterize the finish.

Bridezilla Brown

A smooth, easy drinking ale, light brown in color with a thick, rich mouth feel. This is a re-incarnation of a home brew Dan made for his wedding in 2010 in honor of Erin (his bride)… for the record she was not a pain in the butt, and neither is this beer, it’s approachable, smooth, sweet and easy, and of course just a bit “nutty”

Bridge Burner

The Bridge Burner pours a deep, fiery amber with a rocky off-white head. The assertive aroma is dominated by dry, earthy American hops: citrus, floral and pine tree notes all make a showing. The hops dominate, lending a hefty bitterness to the palate, but are backed up by the caramel malts, which lend a substantial body without any extra sweetness. A warm alcohol burn finishes it off with a nod to its considerable 8.0% ABV. 2009 Los Angeles County Fair gold medal barley wine winner.
