An ale with a deep brown tone, this is our version of a traditional British style, balanced toward the malt (three of the varieties used are imported), this ale exhibits classic ale smoothness. This brew went in to hibernation in the Spring of 2009.

The finest domestic pale and roasted malts, soft hop accents and lots of care give our Brown ale great taste, medium body and lots of devoted fans. A dark beer that does not drink like a dark beer. Crystal and chocolate malt give the smooth flavor and rich color of this enigmatic brew.

Our take on the classic English Brown has a good malt profile with low bitterness and a moderate alcohol content.

Brewed as a traditional English Style Brown, imported UK Malts and Hops give it the light body and a smooth flavor that you don’t expect from a darker brew.

A German style amber ale, exceptionally smooth and difficult to put down, this American version is a touch stronger than the Dusseldorf forerunner. Alt, literally translated, is German for old, reflecting how far back this top-fermenting style goes, dating back some 200 years ago when the Rhineland brewers stuck to the “old” dark ale while Bavarian counterparts moved toward the “new” pale lagers. The Yellowhammer version draws its aroma from a blend of Vienna, Munich and pilsner malts, while creating a slight, but notable hop character with German spalt and American crystal hops.

Brown Buffalo Rye’d will whiplash even the deftest of palates. Bucking in sweet and savory fits, this American Brown is refined but untamed, like the kiss at the end of a wet fist. Sweet raisins saddle up to a fantasia of chocolate malts. Then Sheriff Rye’d strolls in with his cinnamon deputy and obliterates your palate with a spice storm you ain’t seen this side of the Mississippi.
