Jalapeno Lager

Traditional American lager infused with Jalapeno Peppers. With its light body, low hops, and crisp taste, this lager makes a great session beer for those who don't mind a little heat. It has a powerful aroma of peppers but only mild heat in the finish. Optionally squeeze in a lime to reduce the spice and add further depth to the flavor.

James

James was our Uncle (Edward James Hill, Jr.); Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his four siblings. In his honor, this Black Ale is dutifully crafted from American and German malted barley, American hops, our ale yeast, and water from James’ well. It is unfiltered, naturally carbonated, and dry hopped. Roasty and smooth, with accents of chocolate and a balanced hoppy finish, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with James.

James & Julie

James and Julie is our take on a Flemish Sour Brown and offers an aroma of raisins, figs, cherries, and caramelized sugar. Mahogany in color, this medium bodied ale finishes with a clean acidity and a hint of spice. We brew this sour brown ale with Pilsner, Special B, Maize, and Chocolate Malt and ferment it with our house yeast strain. It then ages for two years on stainless steel with our own blend of Lactobacillus and Pediococcus cultures.

James Bean (Bourbon Barrel Aged)

James Bean is a bourbon barrel aged, Belgian-style strong ale that is infused with cold press coffee, post fermentation. Coffee, vanilla and bourbon dominate the aroma. Flavors of caramel, coffee, bourbon, and oak present themselves throughout this full-bodied beer. The coffee used in James Bean is Speckled Ax, roasted right here in Maine. The beans used are Ethiopia Amaro Gayo and are known for their lush blackberry and blueberry fruit flavors.

James Hoppy Blonde Ale

An American blonde ale brewed with five varieties of American and New Zealand hops. Light crystal malts and toasted malts lend a sweet bready malt character while the special hop mixture adds depth with citrus and melon flavors. A new experimental hop known as HBC 342 shines through to give a watermelon aroma. This beer is perfect for summer, clocking in at 5.4% ABV and 20 IBUs. Twenty five percent of the grain used in James was locally sourced from Valley Malt in Hadley. This beer was first released in July 2013. Due to the overwhelming popularity we will be bringing it back for the summer of 2014.

Jameson French Oak Steamboat

This is our Steamboat to Cuba aged on Jameson Irish Whiskey and French Oak. It is dark, roasty, a little woody, and very smooth. It has a nice substantial creamy head that brings out the Jameson. This beer is extremely drinkable/ sippable. If a customer is asking for a lighter or fruitier beer then this will probably not meet their request. This is a bigger beer with very complex characters.

Japanese Green Tea IPA

Our style of brewing has always been about taking chances. It’s an extension of our “what-if” mentality, wherein we ask ourselves what would happen if we did things differently in the brewhouse, such as fermenting with a different strain of yeast or, in the case of this beer, incorporating whole-leaf green tea imported from Japan. The answer, embodied in this IPA when we first released it in 2011, was something truly magnificent, delicious and well worth brewing again. But what if we changed it up a bit? This time around, we exchanged Pacifica hops from New Zealand for Helga hops from Australia. The result is an IPA that’s as bright, herbaceous and bitingly hoppy as the one that’s had our fans requesting its return ever since its depletion from store shelves, but with a modern, hop-driven twist that makes this second draft unique and tasty in its own right.
