JJJ IPA

*ABV 9% draught, 9.5% bottle* Triple the gravity, triple the colour, and more than triple the hops. With nearly 700 kg of malt and 14 kg of hops this beer is big in every sense. In fact, it was so big and hoppy that it broke our pump! Deep copper in colour, over the top in aroma and flavour, but somehow still remaining (somewhat) balanced, this beer is not for the faint of heart. If you’re looking for a one-dimensional hop bomb look elsewhere. And don’t get too wrapped up in style pedantics. We’re breaking new ground here. Forget everything you think you know and just enjoy.

JMB Stout

Named after our owner’s father, James Martin Brown, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly the day that the first batch of this rich Chocolate Stout was brewed. This Imperial Stout is brewed with 6 varieties of malted barley that results in a silky smooth, yet complex beer. This beer pours out with a frothy tan head that would make Starbucks envious. It is loaded with chocolate and coffee aromas and pleasing malty notes. It has a rich mouth feel, is somewhat sweet and nicely balanced by the hops.

Jo Jo’s Midnight Stout

Don’t be afraid of the dark! This stout pays homage to JoJo’s Café, housed in your brewpub from 1937 – 1996. An unsubstantiated rumor has it that JoJo, along with a few former JoJo’s Café regulars, still haunt our humble pub…mostly around midnight, of course. This mysterious stout is black as, well, midnight. A little smokiness adds depth to the espresso, lactose, and milk chocolate that already inhabit this light engulfing beer. The 7.2% ABV assures that warmth and subtle sweetness will reward your taste buds and guide them safely on their happy journey.

Joemmegang

We’re excited for you to try Joemmegang, the newest beer in our Brewmaster’s Obsession series. We think that it’s a perfect marriage of coffee, beer, and chocolate. The beer begins as a malty brown ale, comprised of Belgian aroma, caramel malts, and oats. A bit of lactose adds body and some sweetness, and a heaping helping of cocoa nibs in the whirlpool provides further richness, and a deep chocolaty aroma. Hop aroma is nonexistent, and bitterness is there just to keep the sweetness in check. We worked with our great friends at Stagecoach Coffee in Cooperstown to come up with a custom coffee blend that complimented our base beer. Sumatra, Papua New Guinea, and French roast form a combination with chocolate, earth, spice, fruit, and light roast characteristics. Following primary fermentation the beer is cold crashed and yeast is removed. Coffee is added to a secondary tank and the beer is circulated through the freshly roasted beans to extract even more flavor and aroma. The result is really something special: aromas of cold brewed coffee, milk chocolate and rich malt – the taste follows, round, smooth and creamy, with a touch of sweetness.

Johannieter

Jopen Johannieter is a dark brown, strong double bock brewed with an ample dose of roasted wheat malt. This roasted wheat is what gives the beer its colour and a fruitiness that is reminiscent of wheat beer. The name of this beer comes from the Johannieterklooster (monastery) that used to be located in the heart of Haarlem. Here, monks brewed beer for their guests and for their own consumption. Today, the buildings accommodate the Noord-Hollands Archief (North Holland Archive), where the old Haarlem brewer’s statutes are stored. Taste the work of monks.

Our Seasonal Offering. We honor the Harvest & Holidays each year by brewing a traditional Barleywine style ale, using a variety of ingredients. Bennelong Point, (where Sydney Opera House stands), was the location of the mill where genius John Boston crafted Australia’s first beer using corn bittered with love-apple stalks. John John Dead Guy

Deep honey in color with a malt aroma, a caramel, vanilla, and oak finish. In a collaboration of crafts, Rogue Brewmaster John Maier and Rogue Spirits Master Distiller John Couchot have joined forces to create a distinct, innovative series of brews called John John Ales. The series will take Rogue Ales legends and age them in Rogue Spirits barrels. A 3,100 gallon batch of John John Ale produces 1357 cases of beer. The first of the John John series is John John Dead Guy Ale, Rogue’s award winning Dead Guy Ale matured in Rogue’s award winning Dead Guy Whiskey barrels.

John John Hazelnut

This unique ale consists of Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar aged in Rogue’s Hazelnut Spiced Rum barrels. In their third collaborative effort of 2010, Rogue Master Brewer John Maier and Rogue Master Distiller, John Couchot, are releasing John John Hazelnut Brown Nectar. This unique ale consists of Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar aged in Rogue’s Hazelnut Spiced Rum barrels. To craft this exceptional brew, John Couchot first distills Rogue Hazelnut Spiced Rum and ages it in white oak barrels, allowing the barrels to soak up the subtle flavors of Oregon hazelnuts, vanilla and spices from the rum. When the rum is finished aging, the barrels are emptied and John Maier immediately fills them with Hazelnut Brown Nectar. After approximately 6 months of ocean aging, this unique ale is ready.

John John Juniper

A hint of cucumber and a Sprucey note in the aroma followed by a Juniper bite mid palate finishing with a soft oakiness. In their second collaboration effort, Rogue Master Brewer, John Maier, and Master Distiller, John Couchot are releasing John John Juniper Pale Ale. This ale consists of Rogue Juniper Pale Ale aged in Rogue’s Juniper Gin barrels. Gin lovers will recognize the oddity in this approach – gin is not typically aged in barrels. To craft this unique brew, John Couchot aged the Gin in oak barrels so the barrels can soak up the flavor of the gin. The barrels are then emptied and rolled by forklift from the Rogue Distillery to the Rogue Brewery. John Maier later fills these barrels with Juniper Pale Ale so that his creation can absorb the gin flavors from the barrel.
