The dunkelweiss style is slightly lesser known than its hefeweizen cousin, but has many similar attributes – the most pronounced being light and refreshing with significant notes of banana and cloves. We brewed this German style with the typical amounts of wheat and munich malts, and added a little chocolate malt to give it some color and add some darker essence. We fermented Lichtenberg with the same strain of yeast that weihenstephan uses and let the temperature rise slightly to facilitate some ester production which gives this style its defining characteristics. The result was a light-bodied, cloudy, dark beer with significant banana and clove character. Lichtenberg is a nice, refreshing beer that, in addition to being enjoyed by the March mountainBeers, will also be served at our first Brewer’s night at Rays Boathouse in mid-March.

Sour, Smoked, Wheat Ale

This nostalgic beer specialty, which can be confidently ranked among the traditional old Bavarian beers, is brewed in commemoration of the good old times and in honor of the brewery’s founder, Johann Liebhard. The special feature of the “Kellerbier” is the fine yeasty cloudiness and the pleasantly bitter taste. As it is bottled unfiltered, many of the natural protein, yeast and hop elements remain contained in the beer. It consequently retains its original character and the beer connoisseur can appreciate the fullness of taste that this very drinkable beer offers. Furthermore, the vitamin and mineral-rich yeast also provides a significant contribution to the nutritional requirements of good health. Available in 0.5 NRW bottle and 30 liter keg.

When life gave me lemons, I made some beer. Screw lemonade, that doesn't do shit for anyone. At least this gets you drunk so you can forget about the awful time when life gave you lemons. Anyways, this is a berliner weisse, fermented with a combination of lactobacillus and hefeweizen yeast, spiked with some organic lemon love.
