Raspberry White Ale

The Sugar Creek Raspberry White Ale is the result of the combination of a watchful eye, like that of a Trappist Monk, with the technical precision of a nuclear engineer. This traditional 14th Century recipe has been revived by our beer engineers using over 500 pounds of fresh raspberries. The Sugar Creek Raspberry White Ale is a naturally vibrant ruby pink in color and pours with a picture perfect white head. The clean, yet subtle, tartness makes this beer the perfect pairing for the Carolina sunshine.

Rasputin XII Imperial Stout

For the past few years, barrel-aged Old Rasputin has been released in such limited quantities that it has been available only at the brewery retail shop. However, we have received so many requests for this beer that for the 12th anniversary, NCBC produced enough Old Rasputin XII to put into broader distribution. There’s certainly not a flood of it, but it is available in select areas. Check the distributor in your area to find where to get it. We guarantee that the Old Rasputin XII will be worth the search. It is amazing stuff. Aging in oak whiskey barrels adds a level of complexity that amplifies the espresso/chocolate notes in the flavor profile and takes this unique beer to new heights.

Rat Bastard Pale Ale

Rat Bastard Pale Ale was the first beer brewed here at Stumptown and a Blue Ribbon winner at the California State Fair. It really was a beer that named itself (although many of the regulars here will tell you it was named in their honor). Rat Logo In an effort to get our first beer brewed and aged in time for the Santa Rosa Beer Festival (at the LBC) we found ourselves lacking a few key ingredients. They included grain and yeast. We borrowed some grain from Third Street Aleworks, some more from Bear Republic , and Brian at Moonlight Brewing was kind enough to lend us a couple of kegs to put it in. Anyway, what is the Rat Bastard Pale Ale? Jay Brooks of the (Brookston Beer Bulletin) said "The Rat Bastard is a well-made pale ale, with good aromas and a crisp, clean palate. It has a generous hop bite that finishes bitter, then drops off sharply in the end." The Rat is a very chuggable drop. Coming in at just under 6%, it's a fine session beer with a clean dry finish. With its balanced hop profile the Rat is crisp on the tongue and pleasant (slightly floral with some citrus) to the nose, without over powering it's malt character. Our favorite review "This tastes like beer".

An extra special pale ale that has been dry hopped with copious amounts of locally grown Chinook and Columbus hops from Hot Haus Hops and Summit hops from Hop Union. This deliciously hoppy and local endeavor is 5.6 ABV and 40 IBU. Local amateur brewers create imaginative beers on our 10-gallon Rat Pad brew system. Rated XX

Right now everyone is talking about the financial crisis, and last year was the hops crisis. At Amager Brewery we say "fuck all the crises and let's have some serious beer!" With Rated XX 2009 we will once again prove that despite rumors to the contrary, then there are plenty of hops to get out there if you which brews just want it. This beer is a tribute to the beer perhaps most precious ingredient, and it is a tribute to all the 'hopheads' who knows how to enjoy it. Again we have gone berserk and emptied hop room at the brewery. Amager Rated XX 2009 contains a unique composition of no less than 23 hops: Centennial, Hallertau Mittelfrüh, Brewers Gold, Crystal, Simcoe, Pearl, Mt. Hood, Hersbrucker, Challenger, Fuggles, Liberty, Styrian Goldings, Columbus, Chinook, Amarillo, Bramling Cross, East Kent Goldings, Willamette, Palisade, Saaz, First Gold, Pacific Gem and Northern Brewer. Yep, we admit it outright, it's a hop-orgy that will separate the wheat from the chaff among beer lovers - even among those who have believed that their taste buds could easily cope with a violent Double IPA. When it comes to bitterness, then we have given up trying to figure it out, because it is quite impossible. But we're pretty sure that Amager Rated XX 2009, one of the world's most bitter beer. Enjoy - if otherwise you dare!

Rated XxX

Once during a tour of Amager Brewery took an elderly lady one hop pellet from the exhibit glass. She thought it was a piece of Vienna malt and munched joyfully on the small pill. Joy was soon turned to horror when the cruel truth with one went up for the nice, elderly lady. She's still alive, but her taste was forever scorched away at it, there just should have been a pleasant day at the brewery. The above story is true down to the smallest point, and the lady is certainly not proud of it. But I retell it to warn of the total carelessness with hops, which takes place on Amager Brewery. A year brewed the a heated double IPA with 20 different hops. The following year would blærerøvene surpass themselves and sprinkled 23 hops in the keg. This time, they ended up at 30 hops, yes you read that right. Three to ten hops. And now it's not fun anymore, it's just perverse. Lads know obviously not what they're doing - it is pure Disney. The said lady would go in acute convulsions if she so much as sniffed at this beer. And you tend to hop shock, we can not recommend this beer. It is hereby Rated XxX - then you are even asking for it!

Rauch E. Balboa

To put it simply, "Rauchbier" is the German term for smoked beer, a style seldom seen today. Although smoking is a technique usually reserved for food, malt smoked over beech wood had been an important brewing ingredient for centuries until modern malting methods were developed. This garnet colored lager is brewed in the classic German style offering an intense smoky character while maintaining a smooth malty flavor. Best if enjoyed with your favorite smoked or slow roasted foods.
