Scratch 194 - Sour Wheat Ale

The origins of this intriguing beer style stretch back to the early 16th century, yet it has only begun to gain popularity following its recent resurgence among American craft beer enthusiasts. Developed in the German town of Goslar, Gose is a top-fermented wheat beer punctuated by a refreshing citrusy tartness and a hint of salt. The salty component complements another key ingredient of the style – coriander. Also known as “cilantro,” this potent spice introduces the zesty lemon-like citrus flavor for which the beer is recognized. We could stop right there, but we decided to explore the style a bit further. Our chef has created a refreshing strawberry rhubarb syrup that adds a hint of sweetness to this tart summer treat. At just 4.0% ABV, you can sit outside all day enjoying this refreshing blast of mouth-puckering joy.

Scratch 249 - Belgian Style Pale Ale

Although typically not as hoppy as its American counterpart, the Belgian Pale Ale displays prominent sweet and malty overtones. Orval yeast delivers subtle spices and fruits with a hint of melon and rock candy, finishing dry on the palate. In contrast, the hop bill introduces a variety of woody and herbaceous notes.

Scratch Beer 31 - 2010 Citra Of Brotherly Love IPA

Scratch 31, the brothers and the brewers decided to revisit one of our favorite sweet spots ââ?¬â?? IPA ââ?¬â?? and have some fun with hop flavors. Dubbed ââ?¬Ë?Citra of Brotherly Loveââ?¬â?¢ in honor of Philly Beer week, Scratch #31 has generous amounts of Apollo, Cascade and Citra hops. This is our first use of Citra hops, which is known for an intense grapefruit aroma and flavor. While showcasing the intense Citra flavor we added additional bitterness with Apollo and Chinook hops as well. Scratch #31 went through a bed of Chinook hops in the hopback and was dry-hopped with Cascade and Citra hops.

Scru Wit

When it came to the 2016 Stone Spotlight Series competition, brewers Brandon Jacobs & Alex Rodriguez said, “Screw it! Let’s brew something Stone would ‘never’ brew.” They took this independent, go their own way mentality and combined a Finnish sahti, medieval European gruit and Belgian imperial wit together. In doing so, they invented a new beer style they nicknamed SahGruWit—say it fast a few times and you’ll see what we did here. The result is a crazy delicious success courtesy of their ingenuity paired with the unlikely, hard-to-source ingredients of mugwort, wormwood & juniper berries. This beer is extremely unique, which is why it was the hands-down winner of this year’s competition.

Scrumpy

Scrumpy is a traditional, English farmhouse cider style, it is a little rougher around the edges, cloudy and often still. The name comes from the term “scrumping” which means to steal fruit from an orchard or garden, but we can guarantee that there’s no stolen fruit in ours! The batches vary, but the current batch is 100% granny smith apples that we’ve fermented and matured in American oak barrels for nine months. The creamy, butterscotch flavours from the oak and the fact that it is not sparkling makes it like an apple wine, and it is great enjoyed from a wine glass.

Scrumpy Cider

This classic cider is crafted in the farmhouse tradition of southwestern England. Fresh pressed juices of sweet, bitter, aromatic and tart apples are blended to provide a tantalizing parade of distinctive taste experiences. Because less of the apple is filtered out, it is full of flavor, more robust, darker and cloudier than most ciders.

Scythe & Sickle

Scythe and Sickle is Ommegang’s foray into honoring the harvest season. Using barley, oats, wheat, and rye, we’ve brought the mood of fall to life with vibrant and flavorful passion. Farming is about precision, timing and care. At Ommegang we place the same emphasis a farmer has for his crops into the creation of our beers. Scythe and Sickle is a testament to the craft and care of farming, from which our farmstead-brewed beers benefit greatly. Brewed with balance in mind, Scythe & Sickle reveals a smooth and creamy mouthfeel with light toastiness and gentle sweetness. Bright amber in color from the mixed malts, the beer is balanced with delicate hopping to counter rather than overpower the malt profile.

Scythe Rye India Pale Ale

An aggressive harvest tool with a dynamic history, the scythe is traditionally used for harvesting crops. But it was adopted by the lower class as an implement of death during times of war and protest. Our Rye India Pale Ale also has a dual nature with the nose of your traditional IPA and the incredible malt complexity of your European pale ale. We use a healthy dose of malted Rye and Belgian Crystal malts while Summit and Chinook hops add that delicious hop flavor and the exclusive addition of Mosaic in the whirlpool and dry hop adds a profoundly unique blueberry and pineapple aroma.
