Spring Pale Ale With Tea

A blend of black and chamomile teas brewed to perfect balance with 2 row barley malts and a refreshing lemongrass and pine hop bitterness. Chamomile tea has long been used for its calming effects since Ancient times but we can’t help to get overly excited about this tea infused pale ale. Earthy black teas from India and Indonesia join the sweetness of Chamomile to complement English malts and lemon citrus New Zealand hops to make this crisp, spring inspired pale ale. We suggest keeping your pinky down when drinking this brew.

Spring Training

CBC’s “Spring Training” breezes in like a breath of fresh air, ready to awaken your senses from a long, strange winter. Crafted of New England-grown pale and wheat malts to contribute to the beer’s complex body and hazy straw-golden color. Ahtanum and Palisades hops, both relative newcomers on the hop varietal scene, were chosen for their essence of wildflowers and freshly-cut grass, evocative of floral springtime breezes. This is in contrast to the piney, earthy and resiny characteristics of most IPAs. But don’t worry that these “pretty” hops won’t deliver a strong punch- in addition to extensive kettle hopping the beer is dry-hopped with even more Ahtanums to satisfy your hop craving. Available only during the brief Boston springtime!

Springboard

What does an acupuncturist, a vivid dream, and wood barrels have in common? They all gave inspiration for Springboard Ale. It starts with our sustainability director's acupuncturist. The acupuncturist had a dream about making a beer with New Belgium. And New Belgium had a brewmaster who was searching for the right ingredients to blend with our wood-aged beer. So, the sustainability director, the acupuncturist, and the brewmaster gathered in front of a wall of Chinese herbs. The outcome of their brainstorm was Springboard Ale. While ingredients like Gogi berries and Schisandra might sound funny, the taste leaves you smiling for more. We like to refer to this cloudy blonde with a deliciously dry finish as our ale for the seasons of last runs and fresh starts.

Sproose Joose

“Reminiscent of the essence of pine wafting in the breeze as you stroll through the forest on a cool, crisp winter’s evening…” What? Really? Lothar (“The Biter”) would sooner, well bite you, than listen to you extol the virtues of the pine forest. This Black Husky innovation is not so subtle – and it’s not meant to be. Brewed with locally harvested spruce tips and tracking in at 103 IBUs this aggressive double IPA won’t leave you wondering if you caught a whiff of pine; rather you’ll know you bulldozed through the forest and came out on the other side – the dark side – the Black Husky side.

Spruce Ale

Rich molasses and roasted barley give depth of flavor and yield a full body. A slight spruce aroma greets you with the first sip and leaves you with a subtle aftertaste. This historical ale dates to the earliest years of America's settlement when spruce was utilized as a bitter flavor in brews along with providing a good source of vitamin C during the winter months. It would have been drank for these medicinal qualities.

Beers made with spruce or other types of pine were brought to Scotland by the Vikings who brewed ales and spice with fresh spruce shoots to prevent scurvy on sailing voyages. Spruce beer was also drunk before battle as it was thought to bring out one’s animal instincts.
