At long last, word of Juan’s mission travelled North of the Rio Grande, eventually reaching Alexa Long, Head Brewer at Charlotte, North Carolina’s Legion Brewing. Harboring longstanding, but as yet unfulfilled, dreams of her own to one day brew a Margarita Gose, Alexa jumped at the chance to utilize Juan Direction’s desert nectar. Alexa’s staff scurried to gather limes and oranges, which they juiced, zested and soaked in Juan’s liquid gold – fermentation bliss ensued. Anyone fortunate enough to taste the end product will attest that this brew is a funky fusion of sweet, salty, sour, and citrus. Out of respect for Juan’s vision and initiative, Legion Brewing is naming this concoction after the young man who, while born of modest means, had crazy dreams that his destiny lay well beyond the cactus-filled desert of his forefathers. Gose made with Celtic Sea Salt, rose petals, chamomile and hibiscus flowers.

Our second installment in the kettle sour series. You may remember the first at Demo Tape Six. This one is dry hopped with Galaxy.

Lucille is an Imperial Stout brewed with blackstrap molasses and vanilla. Swinging for the fences, we aged this beer on hickory, maple, and white ash, the three woods that are used to produce baseball bats. Big and menacing, its flavors hit hard.

Brewed with 40% wheat, this is an easy drinking beer with a nose that is citrus, floral and herbal, with a touch of clean, almost minty, spiciness. Maximum refreshment for those hot summer days!

Back up in your glass with the resurrection of our Margarita-Style Melomel. A Margarita-inspired product was begging for an Office Space-inspired label. Milton’s Madness has “no salt”, just the way he ordered it.

When Steve and Ken sat down to brainstorm the collab beer, there was only two things in mind; hops and IPA. A simple grain bill of 2-Row , wheat, and crystal malt allows the hops to do all the talking. Loaded with Amarillo, Simcoe, Galaxy, and Mosaic hops; this beer has a distinct tropical flavor. Huge notes of guava, papaya, and pineapple are big on the palate and nose; followed by a slight touch of dank.

This creamy brew is smooth and nutty with touches of chocolate and vanilla.

Nominal IPA (6.3% ABV) - Mosaic and Amarillo hops give this easy drinking IPA a nice balanced body with a clean finish.

Orange Grapefruit & Papaya Aromatics, crisp bitterness, semi-sweet malt body. Part 2: The first taste exceeding all expectations. Your satisfaction is met with a bitter end. Destruction inevitable, death delivers your eternal rest. The march continues for another, your skull & bones are all that remains of a once indulgent life.

Aging a hop-focused beer in barrels will greatly diminish the hop aromas that we've toiled to create. Fortunately for us, we have the ability to add oak spirals- carefully milled helixes of toasted American oak to our aging tanks (and now Hop Gun!). This process infuses our beloved Mosaic IPA with delicious notes of oak, honey, vanilla, and coconut while preserving the beautiful hop profile.

The addition of sweet orange peel to this dry-hopped West Coast style IPA at the end of the boil dials up the citrus notes from the hops while softening some of the bitterness. This is a unique and drinkable ale.

This Abbey Dubbel was aged in a blend of red wine and bourbon barrels to add a new level of complexity to an already beguiling brew. Rich malt flavors of burnt sugar and caramel blend seamlessly with bright fruit notes from the wine barrels, while the bourbon oak lends a mellow hint of vanilla.
