Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore... Up until the 1940’s, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created. Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic 'mistake' in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

No Avocados were harmed in the brewing of this beer. Instead, we add Avocado Honey: the bees go out into the Avocado orchards and return with a gourmet, amber color honey. We add this to the boil while brewing resulting in an ale that quite literally has the taste of sunlight in every sip. Honey malt and Sterling Hops combine for a uniquely smooth and a slightly sweet finish.

The Siberians believed there was a ‘World Tree’ that served as the Axis Mundi, connecting the different worlds through its roots and branches. While this Russian Imperial Stout isn’t necessarily the world’s cosmic axis, it does connect rich flavors in a way to deliver you a cosmic beer.

Beneath its rich, dark exterior and cascading head, you will find a classic unfiltered wheat presentation fused with the smooth, roasty, chocolate-like characteristics of the dark wheat malt. Baby Tree was our first Easter beer. We LOVE Easter here at Pretty Things. Usually after the long Boston winter, we’re itching to bring out the bunnies, bonnets and yellow fluffy chicks and get on with our Springtime. The Baby Tree is a real tree. This must be said. It dwells in Sexhow and carries cavorting baby-dolls and in season, a few pears appear. It belongs to great friends of Dann & Martha, and they chose to rescue these small plastic people from a landfill-fate by allowing them to ride in their pear-tree many years ago. And thank heavens they did. Our Baby Tree is a very magical, traveling tree filled with waving, happy babies, some of whom may or may not resemble Mikheil Gorbachev. There may also be some discrepancy in the number of limbs, but we cannot be sure where other baby heads may be poking through the leaves so we don’t worry ourselves about it. If you want, read our poem about it. Baby Tree beer is a Pretty Things take on the best of Abbey-style brewing from Belgium. Inspired by monastic and abbey quadruples, embellished with dark fruit flavours, not too sweet, not too heavy, it’s a springtime beer with some of the richness of late winter. It makes it perfect year round, so that’s when we offer it! You should be able to find it most months of the year, on draft or in bottle. All in all, it’s our way of bringing a bit of Springtime to you and to us, all year round. Hooray!

Inspired by Paul Revere's midnight ride, we rebelled against the British style IPA, embraced the more aggressive American version and then recast it in bold, brave, defiant black. Our Black IPA is a Declaration of Independence from the tyranny of the expected. Back in Black is our newest year-round beer available now in six pack cans and on draft. Brewed like an American IPA but with the addition of rich, dark malts, this beer has all the flavor and hop character you expect with a smooth, mellow finish.

Back Road Brewery's flagship beer, and first original recipe of 1997, is also our house beer. This mildly hopped copper colored brew has a rich smooth taste. Hop varieties such as Styrian Goldings and English Fuggles are used to balance the beers maltiness. A technique called dry hopping is used after fermentation to add fresh herbal aroma. It is a great session beer and was made to satisfy a wide variety of palates. Drink and enjoy LaPorte County's first production craft beer.

Our beautiful Belgian Blonde Ale is bright and tasty indeed, a touch of sweet malt, spice & banana (just right), hints of belgian tradition with the easy drinking smooth tongue of a classic ale. Goes down easy. Indeed.

A refreshing IPA, light-bodied with a hoppy burst of flavor. This 4.5% ABV Session IPA is ‘the perfect beer if you like to do stuff.’

The original ‘pale’ ale of England, created with more hops to stabilize the beer while being exported to India (hence the name) and later adopted for domestic consumption.

This dark brown ale is slightly sweet with a caramel and dark fruit finish. A show case of fine English malts, floor-malted the old way. We use pale, chocolate and crystal malts to produce a complex but easy drinking dark ale. Very reminiscent of northern English ales.

A tangerine-gold ale, crisp with moderate bitterness and floral notes reminiscent of tropical fruit, lemons, and grapefruit. It’s not typically a pale ale, and not quite an IPA, but will surely leave your hop-bone happy.

Berliner Weisse is a traditional low-alcohol German sour beer. Ours is soured with our house lactobacillus culture and then mixed fermented with the same culture and saison yeast. At the brewery, try it with one of our house-made syrups!!
