Brewing comrades since the early 2000s, Sam Calagione (Dogfish Head), Bill Covaleski (Victory) and Greg Koch (Stone) have had their fair share of stories over the years. Many worth sharing over a beer. Most involving beer. Some even worth sharing on a beer label. The original story finds these three forming an ad hoc craft beer revolution coalition in 2003 called Brewers United for Freedom of Flavor (BUFF), which eventually leads to the first release of this hellaciously herbaceous beer in 2010. The breweries are still taking turns brewing it, but this Berlin-brewed version is different. While we wouldn’t abandon our standards of using locally sourced herbs, and dry-hopping the beer with Citra hops to complement those botanical flavors and aromas, this time we imperialized the recipe to make it even more worthy of an epic, fine feast. While this farmhouse style ale might sound rustic, it’s not lacking in anything, especially not refinement!

Juicy & aromatic, brewed with Simcoe, Mosaic, Amarillo & Citra hops balanced with pilsen malt and white wheat.

Your first experience with this IPA is the citrus bouquet from its rocky white head. The initial taste is subdued but gradually becomes intense without any harsh bitterness. The Heartier the Better.

Coffee Chocolate Lactose Brown Sugar Imperial Stout Ah yes, now that the weather is cooling down a little bit it must be time to put out a big ass kicking stout that makes sobriety its little bitch. We decided a little bit of breakfast style was our mood this month, so we added some local Columbus cold brewed coffee from Thunder Kissed, some cocoa nibs, a little bit of brown sugar, and some lactose just to round it out. The result is an inky jet black combination of deliciousness that is well balanced with roast and sweet, and really dangerous alcohol levels. So weather its a nice relaxing breakfast or a nightcap with friends and family enjoy and drink promiscuously!

Imperial Stout brewed with coffee Vintage of Big Hugs Straight From A Bourbon Barrel

Well balanced between single malt and single hops showcasing Bonlander Munich malt and Northern Brewer hops to bring out toasty, earthy, rich flavors. This brew has a rich Munich malt profile.

Hulking pineapple and peach spread on fresh white grape must. Full and soft with low bitterness. A wicked expression of vine ripe Nelson Sauvin placed on an electric altar.

A complex Belgian Tripel.

Murky orange haze with an eggshell foam. Hop aromatics of peach, apricot, and mango with a tinge of malted wheat and candied sugar. Juicy pineapple, orange marmalade, and sugary watermelon are up front on the palate with a smooth, creamy texture and a smooth resinous piney hop finish. Overall, a juicy hop driven, creamy textured double IPA.

Inspired by the American IPA, La Bors has a nice nose of caramel covered with exotic fruits and pine gum. The mouth offers a nice balance between sweet malt and resinous and fruity hops, all stretching in a bitter final and oh so satisfactory.

A jet-black, chewy, full-bodied imperial stout. A chocolate-tanned foam sits under aromas of licorice, dark cocoa, and sweetened coffee. Flavors of toasted cookies, bready maltiness and a light but noticeable smokiness round out the palate with just a hint of hop bitterness and a slight warming finish.

Fig, stone fruit, and raisin are supported by an assertive malt backbone.

A spiritual companion to a black IPA, the intention of this beer is to get the drinker to question their assumptions. This beer pours a nice golden hue, but with all of the flavor and aroma characteristics of a stout. Roasted malt and chocolate character are imparted by the coffee and cacao instead of from malt, which allows for the flavors and aromas to come through without adding any color.

Cranberry flavored lager

We combined a traditionally fermented batch of cider with our freshly pressed Honeycrisp cider from this season’s apples. The result is a complex, full bodied cider ripe with lush, sweet Honeycrisp apple flavors.
