We teamed up with a San Diego favorite of ours – Pizza Port, for a Day One of epic preportions. When we first talked we wanted the label to be an homage to Thrilla the Gorilla – whom many of you may remember from T&C Surf designs. We were even more excited when we reached out to Thrilla’s creator, Steve Nazar and he offered to create a brand new character for us. And with “The Chicken” being such a big thing in San Diego, Surfin’ Bird was born. This Double IPA is based on a hop cocktail we are really in love with (we brewed a test batch in San Clemente), Citra, Loral, and Idaho 7. It’s all lemon cream, stone fruit, and some tropical stuff going on with a light undercurrent of dankness.

An amber ale base brewed with orange peels from organic Florida oranges from Watts Juicery in Jax Beach. The orange flavor comes through nicely.

We use lots of malt and lots of hops to create a fine balance between bitterness and aroma, with an ABV of 6%. Like this beer’s namesake, Ivan Smith, there is a lot going on…but when it all comes together, you get a beer that is well balanced and lots of fun.

We maxed out the mash tun to give this beer a full malt body, able to handle big additions of Citra kettle-hops and dry-hops. Enjoy a big tropical fruity nose, big ABV, and big IPA finish. Cheers!

The Mad Elf is a cheerful creation to warm your heart and enlighten your tongue. The combination of cherries, honey, and chocolate malts delivers gentle fruits and subtle spices. Fermented and aged with a unique yeast, this ruby red beer has significant warming strength that underlies the pleasant character of this intriguing yet delicious Ale. Brewed with coconut & tamarind for a burst of refreshing flavour, Reef Sun Tan Ale was designed with endless summer fun in mind. Slip, Slop, Slap, Slurp.

Belgian-style wheat ale brewed with citrus peels and coriander and with natural grapefruit and orange flavors.

“Mommy, why aren’t we leaving milk out for Santa?” Virginia asked. “Because milk is for babies”, mother replied. A cookie-inspired ale made for Christmas day pairing, brewed in collaboration with the family from Otterbein’s Cookies, a Baltimore mainstay since 1881.

Organic Wahoo Coffee infused pale ale

In collaboration with Doscher's Candy, this beer is named after their founder and the "Santa" that used to always hide his gifts in our garage. Claus is dark brown in color, with hints of red from the Doscher's peppermint added to the brew. No peeking, but if you're nosey, you'll get scents of milk chocolate and creamy sweetness with subtle mint. The flavor is primarily chocolate, and as the beer warms, peppermint becomes more prominent. This Sweet Stout has a creamy mouthfeel, medium body and low bitterness. Remember, never shake your gifts before drinking.

The first priority at Peticolas is to provide you with a beer that not only has a lower ABV but also has the body, flavor and aroma to take a seat at the table with the big boys in our portfolio. This session IPA brings two polar opposite hops together and balances them in perfect harmony with just the right amount of crystal malt, which provides a nice mild sweetness. Amarillo hops provide big fruit and citrus flavors up front while the distinct herbal and resinous characteristics of the Eureka hop are pronounced on the finish. Eventually, the drinkability of this beer will show itself and make you wonder why your glass emptied so fast. The answer is simple…you crushed it.
