Saturday IPA

Saturday IPA is the follow up to our year-round brew, Friday IPA. It's lower on the IBU scale but is a bit boozier with a heavier mouthfeel. Saturday's hops include: Mandarina Bavaria, Zythos, and Hull Melon. As you would assume, these select hops give this brew the perfect touch of citrus. To compliment the hops, we also added 200lbs of blood orange puree which completes this fruity 8% abv IPA.

The German Hobo

There's good evidence that Malt Liquor, based in the German Lager tradition, was first made in Ionia, MI around 1937. The German and American trained brewers at Dark Horse and Old Nation are old friends and wanted to collaborate to put a craft spin on this old, Michigan born style. Top quality Pilsner and Vienna malt, along with noble German hops in the boil make The German Hobo a very balanced beer; and the subtle addition of noble German Dry hops after fermentation make for a true craft experiment.

Unplugged Imperial Weizen

Do not waste time attempting to box this brew into some esoteric guide to styles. This is Dan’s bold creation. His passion for unfiltered Weiss collides with Cascade Hops inventing our Imperial Hefe-Weizen. Dry hopping boldly rules over Wisconsin red wheat and our special strain of Bavarian yeast. At almost 20 O.P. this is the super mac daddy of Weiss beers. Decoction mashing was followed by excessive dry hopping to create a fierce onslaught of clove, cinnamon and citrus all in this living beer. Don’t bother waiting to enjoy - the time is now.

bashah

What does it mean? Yes, what indeed does it all mean. Meaning of course is elusive and illusive. It can’t or shouldn’t be found on this bottle. Should it? Yet what if it was? Would you begin to look for pearls of wisdom or life direction on a beer label? Perhaps it’s been there all along. Since meaning is a mere illusion, perhaps we shouldn’t let it have any influence on our destiny. This particular beer refused to succumb to the illusion of meaning or allow capricious parameters to have any influence on its own fermented fate. Are we even asking the right question? Are you feeling frustrated in the emptiness? If so, that could be because someone got to this beer before you, and thus there’s a reason for that emptiness. It’s empty. And if so, perhaps there indeed is not any meaning for you here after all. Style over Substance, or Substance over the scriptures of Style? The latter, thank you very much. Twice.

Black Damnation

The Black Damnation series is a dark twist of Urban’s mind. His idea is to realize a dozen beers with the use of Black Albert, and over a period of two years, that are as black as hell, filty rich in the nose and with massive taste. Black Damnation is a blend with the use of Hel & Verdoemenis from Brouwerij De Molen. This is the first of the series. 50% of Black Albert was used with another 50% of H &V. Black coloured beer with just a sliver of a dark tan head. Aroma is glorious & full of coffee, brown sugar, dark fruity chocolate. Flavours of H&V are quite evident, charcoal and mineral notes, chocolate, cocoa powder. Good coffee chocolate finish with good balancing bitterness and hops & sugar in the after taste. 2009 vintage 12% abv 2010 vintage 13% abv
