Aged raspberry mead with cocoa and a hint of whole vanilla bean

A wild cherry that grows prolifically throughout Montana, the Chokecherry got its name because it doesn’t sweeten until after a frost. Montanans have used it for years to make their favorite syrup and jelly. This tradition, inspired our winemaker to marry this familiar flavor with local honey wine, and create a true Montana mead wine and the winner of our first gold medal. Serve slightly chilled.

In Belgium, one of the world’s greatest brewing regions, the tradition of blending fruit with beer has achieved cult status. We decided to create an American interpretation that we present as Oxford Raspberry. The beer is light and refreshing and finished with real raspberries giving it a fruity aroma, and quenching tartness.

This is our Orange Blossom Hydromel with cloves...lots of cloves. Some spice and nicely sweet.

Coco Loco: Bolita Double Nut Brown Ale aged on Cuban espresso beans, coconut flakes and Peruvian cacao nibs. 9% ABV

Herb/Spiced Golden Strong Ale Base. This beer represents one of eight beers in a nationwide collaboration, each with a unique twist. This Golden Strong ale was steeped with Hibiscus and Orange Blossoms for subtle floral aromas and flavors. A slight pink hue also accompanies the hibiscus addition for an interesting brew. Debuted at GTMW 2009. 10% ABV, OG 22, 30 IBUs.

Conspiracy Belgian-style Black Beer is the result of a collaboration between Midnight Sun brewers Gabe Fletcher and Ben Johnson and Pelican Pub (Pacific City, OR) brewer Ben Love. These brewers conspired during barley wine fest week to brew up a deviously delicious dark Belgian-style beer. Conspiracy is opaque black with a creamy beige head. Black malt shrouds it in mystery; the Belgian yeast imparts intriguing flavor; the alcohol adds danger. If you’re up for this mission, watch your back. Conspiracy will be released in Anchorage and Portland in April 2007.

Last winter, while the Brooklyn brewing team sat around a peat fire drinking some inspirational drinks, brewer Tom Price mentioned that his friend’s bakery made some very fine oatmeal cookies. Before long, we were all talking about oatmeal cookies and how good they are with beer. Pretty soon we’d somehow decided that the cookies should actually become a beer. Funny, the things people come up with while drinking in front of a good fire. Of course, oatmeal in beer isn’t a new idea. For centuries brewers have added oats to the mash, giving the resulting beers – usually stouts – silky smooth textures. But how best to create the flavors we had in mind? Out in Jersey City (NYC’s 6th borough), Tom’s friends at Feed Your Soul Bakery make some of the tastiest oatmeal cookies we’ve ever had. After talking to the bakers (and eating a lot of cookies), we brewed a beer from floor-malted barley malt, golden oats, raisins, brown sugar, honey, vanilla beans and a subtle dash of spice. Brooklyn Cookie Jar Porter brings all these flavors together with light chocolate, coffee and caramel flavors to create a beer that will warm up the coldest nights, even if you don’t have a peat fire. It’s very nice by itself, but perhaps even better with roasted pork, barbecue, or traditional Mexican mole dishes. Or, of course, some oatmeal cookies and ice cream.

Cordillera Blanca (kawr-dl-yair-uh) or White Mountains, loosely translated to English, is the newest additions to the Sonoran Brewing line of products. This White Chocolate Ale is light, refreshing, and completely unique! Like most fine chocolates, this brew has delicate aroma and the subtle taste of White Chocolate that is truly astonishing!
