THE MAYOR OF GARRATT

Style: Best Bitter Abv: 4.3% Colour: Bronze Description: A truely London Bitter brewed in the most traditional way. This best bitter is brewed with British Malt, Yeast and Hops, with London water, passion and heritage. History: The tradition of electing a ‘Mayor of Garratt’ evolved only a stones throw away from our brewery during the early 18th century. These popular mock elections, which attracted huge crowds, were held at the same time as elections to Parliament. They centred upon our local pubs, The Leather Bottle and Old Sergeant. The candidates were, typically, unconventional colourful characters from London who adopted comic names and made witty speeches. The event provided a platform for free speech, a protest against the ruling classes and of course, mandatory drunken revelry! This beer is a nod to this truly original eccentric English tradition.

The One They Call Zoe

THE ONE THEY CALL ZOE is an interesting breed of beer. Brewed in a mildly traditional manner, it’s very similar to many of the German lagers of the old world but dry-hopped to add an extra layer of complexity. Zoe is based on pale and vienna malts, light to golden in color with a beautiful white layer of foam resting on top, constantly delivering floral and citrus dry-hop aromatics with every sip. With notes of lightly toasted bread, floral hops and an incredibly smooth finish we hope that Zoe is everything that you’ve been searching for in a pale lager.

The Palisade Wasp

Gizmo Brew Works’ first IPA offering, derives its name from a song by folk singer Sufjan Stevens and Palisade hops, the main flavor and aroma hop addition in the brew. Bred in the northwest US in Yakima Valley, Palisade hops typically function as complementary hops, but this IPA emphasizes their unique flavor profile. The Palisade Wasp IPA has a strong floral aroma with a hint of tangerine. Its complex flavor imparts apricot, flowers, and an earthy, grassy bitterness, accentuated by a clean, dry finish.

The Reverend

The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of our friend Tom Boogaard’s grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart. Our brewers included as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as they could, making this the perfect beer for folks who love malty beers and are ready to take the next step. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. The Reverend is the second installment of “The Holy Trinity of Ales” series.

The Sixth Glass

”Do you know what dwells in a glass?” asks Ole, in Hans Christian Andersen's The Watchman of the Tower. Better known for stories such as The Little Mermaid, Andersen wrote this short, cautionary tale for a somewhat older audience. Our quadruple ale, also meant for the mature connoisseur, is a deep and mysterious libation, dark auburn and full-bodied, its sweetness deceptive. As Ole describes the glasses in turn, their contents become more ominous until, in the sixth glass... Cloudy orange red colored with a huge beige head. Sweet and spicy aroma of fruits, yeast and caramel with notes of wood. Sweet and spicy flavor of caramel, licorice, fruits and alcohol. Warming alcoholic finish.

The Taste of Manchester

The Taste of Manchester or Saku Manchester for short is a classic slightly sweet light red beer brewed following the finest traditions of English brewmasters. In England this beer is called ale and every respectable traditional English pub has this type of mild red beer at the top of their beer menu. Saku Manchester gets its English accent from light and caramel malt and aromatic hops that together make the beer sweeter and give it its red colour. Characteristic to English ale, Saku Manchester has a low carbon dioxide level.

The Tide and Its Takers

This is an unshored ale. Wild and Remote; there's a beer where the sea used to be. I believe there will be many takers for this tide. It begins with a soft and spicy floral nose. The brett notes are measured and reverberate around the lemon-cream-pie hops like ripples around a buoy in a beam sea. Wood notes drift and float by and bring a bit of vanilla toward the end but mostly the wood does the important work of softening the heat of a multi-phase fermentation that is three fathoms deep. Putting a snifter of this beer up to your lips is like putting a conch shell up to your ear. Living right up against the Atlantic Ocean here in Delaware nothing says welcome home to me so much as the rhythmic crashing of an incoming surf on land and I get that familiar feeling while drinking The Tide and Its Takers. Like a powerful ocean you cannot take this beer for granted. It's complex, it has a lunar-pull that makes you reflexively go for the next sip, and it puts you in the right mood to appreciate life and nature's bounty. To paraphrase folk-punk Michelle Shocked, You know you're in the largest state of mind in the union when you're anchored down in Anchorage. Travelin' Man

Travelin’ Man is a “new school intercontinental IPA.” Classic enough to satisfy the hop heads on the West Coast and juicy enough to appease any member of the haze craze in the Northeast. All the while still retaining our own Texas sovereignty. This beer is a soft, juicy, flavor bomb of an IPA with an amalgamation of tastes and aromas spanning the hop rainbow. Embracing the Travelin’ Man name, each batch will source rotating hops from the world resulting in subtle aroma and flavor shifts in each iteration. The Truth

Full Disclosure: This beer came to fruition because we saw a gap in our portfolio and we wanted to increase our market share. Sometimes the truth hurts. But most often, it’s damn refreshing. The Truth Imperial IPA--the latest addition to our year-round portfolio-is a hop bomb of some of the most distinct Pacific Northwest hops available today.
