Alt & In The Way

This Altbier is brewed in the traditional German old or "alt" style. Full bodied with a malty richness and deep copper color derived from Victory malt and carries a delicate hop aroma. Before lager beer was made (1830's) in Germany, the style was Obergoriger Lageredbier, which means " top-fermented lagered beer". When Western Europe embraced the lager yeast in the middle of the 19th century, Dusseldorf decided to keep brewing their top-fermented beer. Altbier is thus an ale that is aged (lagered) like a lager. Altbier offers a smooth, rounded alternative to sharp, bitter Pilsners. Alt Ball and Chain

This beer was brewed in honor of our brewer Melissa's wedding to fellow brewer Derek Osbourne of B.J.'s in Chandler. The Alt Ball and Chain is a German Altbier. These beers are generally full-bodied with sweet malt flavor. The crispness, dry finish, and moderate hop aroma make an alt a great beer for summertime enjoyment. Our Alt has been lagering in our cellar for two weeks and contains 5.2% abv.

Alt Route - Beer Camp Across America

Brewers are notorious for refusing to take the easy path. Instead, we lead with our hearts and pursue our passions no matter how difficult the road ahead. Alt Route is a tribute to this stubborn spirit that drove us to dodge the status quo and found breweries. Together we chased the siren song of beer with this revamped take on an antique beer style. Like us, Victory is one of the few brewers with an allegiance to whole-cone hops. They do extensive work with hop flavor, especially focusing on clever and delicious single-hop beers highlighting the same hop grown in different regions. They too share our roots in home brewing and never lost their passion for working with new beers and styles solely for the joy of making something new.

Altar Beer

Our brewer, Steve Balzer, created this beer for his wedding last year and its name alternates between a combo of Steve’s last name and the German-style Alt bier it’s modeled after (Altzer) and Altar, as in wedding altar. We use traditional German malts, resulting in dry and roasty flavors. Altar (or Altzer) is drinkable and perfect for consumption all event long.

Altbier

Our take on Dusseldorf's broad style features our most complex grain bill, which produces a malty, amber beer with a lot of flavor. Saphir hops give it a spicy, noble aroma and delicious hop profile. Definitely on the hoppy side for this style of beer.

This special German-style ale is still made faithfully in Dusseldorf, just down the road from Cologne. Alt Bier is one of a few German Ales and one that is becoming very popular in the Prost Brewing Biergarten. With its copper color, slight hop presence, clean flavor and dry finish it is definitely a winner. It may not be as hailed as hefeweizen or as popular as a Pils but our Alt is every bit as delicious. PROST!

Altbier

“Alt” means “old beer” in a sense of an old-time style. This beer was brewed in the German tradition using ale yeast at cooler ale temperatures, then long cold aged to produce a slightly hoppy, well attenuated, balanced ale, with the smooth clean crispness of a lager. The bronzed copper color and subtle malt characters come from 2-Row, Munich and Black Malts. Traditional Hallertau noble hops provide for the assertive Dusseldorf hop profile.
