In the analog age of music, artists recorded take after take, experimenting with new sounds until a great record emerged. Our Alternate Takes series offers a peek into our iterative and creative R&D process, where each batch is celebrated as its own off-centered hit. Alternate Takes #2 began with Raison D’Etre being end-fermented in a tank with a Belgian Abbey yeast. Then we transferred it to single-use red wine barrels, where we added Syrah grape must and brettanomyces. The result is a wild sour ale with a deep, dark and complex flavor.

Alternate Takes #3 is an Imperial IPA brewed with a massive amount of juicy hops. It’s burst-hopped in the brewhouse with Warrior, Simcoe, Mosaic and Amarillo. Then it gets double dry-hopped with Galaxy, Citra, Amarillo, Mosaic and Simcoe.

Gizmo Brew Works ushers in autumn with its newest seasonal, an altbier. Brewed true to the German style, this crisp amber ale is malt-forward, exhibiting a sweet caramel flavor accentuated by a light touch of spicy Noble hops.

A stronger version of our German altbier it has a rich bitter sweet palate from Munich malt balanced by noble German hallertau hops and a hint of cascade hops thrown in for interest. Strong and warming with complex fermentation flavors, it is especially suited for enjoying with food.

Althea is a Belgian-style Dubbel brewed with plums, bottle conditioned in a 750 ml/25.4 oz. cork and cage bottle, which weighs in at a substantial 7.7% ABV. It’s a beautiful, dark and fruity ale conceived and brewed by our New Jersey Sales Representative and former Philly Beer Geek, Natalie DeChico. Every year, hundreds of women in Weyerbacher’s home, Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley, are diagnosed with breast cancer. For many of these women, this means countless doctor visits, months of treatments and more. All too often this means lost wages and insurmountable bills during what is possibly the most trying time in that woman’s life. For every bottle of Althea sold Weyerbacher will donate $1 to The Breast Cancer Assistance Fund to help these women – our mothers, daughters, wives, sisters and their families – cover costs like travel, child care, prosthesis and more. Althea hit the shelves in October 2013 to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month. A limited run with an extremely important purpose, is a unique and delicious way for beer lovers to support women in their fight against breast cancer.

A malt forward brew that is heavily dominated with notes of chocolate, caramel, and hints of coffee. The Goldings and Fuggle keep the sweetness in check.

Cream ale brewed with Ethiopian Sasaba coffee roasted by Ceremony Coffee. This heirloom variety exhibits rose and blueberry aromatics as well as tropical notes that blend well with the light hopping of the base beer.

Born in Salzburg, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart spent most of his professional career in Vienna. Similarly, the original amber lager was born in Austria but is most famous for its life in Mexico via immigrants in the 1800s. A healthy dose of Vienna malt gives Amadeus a soft, elegant complexity, and Noble hops provide just enough bitterness for balance. Amadeus is refreshingly perfect for a float down the Danube or a climb up Colima alike.

Amarillo is a hop variety that is related to other pungent hops such as Simcoe and Citra. Its fruity and pungent. This pale ale boasts 5lbs per barrel of Amarillo hops with a malty caramel background
