The big sister to our Cowbell Blonde. This was our first “high gravity” brew under the new Iowa law enabling brewers to make beers up to 12 percent alcohol. Medium body and straw color, this Belgian-style strong blonde ale is fruity, tart, aromatic and potent at 9% abv. It’s brewed using Belgian pilsner barley malt, flaked maize and Worth County honey. Imported German hops play a background role to balance the sweet profile.

This Extra Special Bitter has a toasted English malt flavor and is balanced by Earthy, Spicy, English hops.

This BABBA (Bad Attitude Big Brown Ale) is hella hoppy, with resin, citrus and pine hop flavor from intense hopping and dry hopping. Pity the fools who don’t like Baracus…

A style defying ancient strong ale. This spiced American strong ale harmoniously blended with six malts from four countries, local honey and Joel’s secret spices. The spices balance out the sweetness of the malts, while the honey adds just a touch of nectar flavor in the finish. All of this behind a wonderful, deep golden color.

“Barbe Black” is one of the four “Barbe” beers. The name of the series of “Barbe” beers refers to the Liege brewery “Barbe d’Or”. Brewery Barbe d’Or was a medieval brewery in the old town of Liege (Belgium) and belonged to the family “de Romsée”, an ancient Liege family whose coat of arms adorns the logo of the “Barbe” beers. “Barbe Black” is a Belgian Stout. It is a top-fermented beer with a dark, almost black color. The “Barbe Black” has a dense head. Its taste is well-balanced and keeps the middle between sweet, creamy and bitter. “Barbe Black”is brewed with deeply roasted malt. The nice selection of hops gives the “Barbe Black” its gentle taste of bitterness and its dense head. “Barbe Black” has an alcohol content of 9.0 % alc. vol.

The “Barbe Rouge” gets a lot of hopping during the brewing process but also afterwards before the lagering hops are added by applying the dry-hopping principle. “Barbe Rouge” is a solid amber with a malty, bitter taste and has a content of 8.0 % alc. vol. with an original density of 17 Hl°Plato.

A light, crisp, tart beer. Made with American 2-Row, Vienna and wheat malt. Lightly hopped to accentuate the fresh rhubarb which is added after fermentation.

Our barley wine is what would be considered an English-style barley wine. We aged this high gravity beer for 9 months before its release; 60% in Heaven Hill Bourbon Barrels and 40% in stainless steel, blended back together to achieve a balance of complex notes from the liquor barrels, but still preserving the malt flavors that can be lost in the barrel aging process. We are releasing this offering in kegs, and we will also be doing a limited release of 22 oz bottles, perfect for cellaring.

A faithful Berliner-style Weisse brewed in the new bohemia of Biddeford, Maine. Sitting at 2.9%, the "Little Bear" is short in stature with an aggressive bite. Pleasantly tart, light, and refreshing, Bärchen was brewed using German Heidelberg malt, domestic wheat, Hersbrucker hops, and lactobacillus.

This is a strong barley wine at 10% alc/vol that was aged in Bourbon Barrels for a year. Bardstown has a wonderful aroma of vanilla, fruit, smoke, oak and alcohol. On the palate you first taste sweet malt, vanilla, ripe fruit and raisons followed closely by the warmth of alcohol and tannic oak. Bardstown is the very first beer OHB has ever bottled. It was made in very limited quantities, only about 150 cases were made. About the name: Bardstown is the county seat for Nelson County, Kentucky and is the host city of the annual Bourbon Festival. Most of the famous bourbons made hail from this area of Kentucky. A few years ago Steven was visiting Bardstown and the many distillers around Kentucky.While visiting the distilleries, Steven arranged to pick up some freshly used barrels, empty less than a day. The barrels were brought back to the brewery and filled right away. The barrels rested in the brewery for a year, full of barley wine. When the beer was just right, the barrels were emptied into a tank and allowed to condition before being bottled, one at a time, by hand. As Bardstown is such a big and robust beer, as well as being 10%, it will age very well, becoming more mellow as the years pass. If you have the opportunity and the patience to keep a bottle or two back you will be well rewarded in five to ten years.

A traditional German Kölsch ale made with all American ingredients. We brew this golden yellow hued beauty with 2-row barley, wheat, crystal, and Munich malts. We add an authentic German Kölsch ale yeast strain then cold condition at lager temperatures, giving it a brilliant, crisp pilsner quality. This session ale starts slightly bitter with floral and spicy hop aromas and finishes clean and dry.

An American Brown Ale. Rich, malty flavors of caramel, hazelnut and coffee with little hop presence.

This isn’t your typical blonde! It’s above average abv of 6.2% and hoppier aroma is sure to lure you in. Don’t get me wrong though, this ain’t no bitter blonde but it is barely legal!

This big flavor session beer combines dates, plums, and other dark fruits, with toffee, caramel, and toast maltiness. Wood and damp earth tones from the British Ale yeast and UK hops play supporting roles. Overall, reminiscent of toasted whole wheat with dark fruit marmalade. Clean sweet mouth feel ending moderately but firmly bitter and lightly roasted. As this beer warms toffee notes run wild!
