We loved our summer seasonal, du Sable Hoppy Saison, so much, we wanted something to help us transition to the winter when it will be swapped out for some delicious darker, richer beers. So we crafted a saison that is more traditional, then we added Blood Orange, a seasonal fruit that complements the tartness and fruity flavors perfectly.

Barbieswine

Our barley wine is what would be considered an English-style barley wine. We aged this high gravity beer for 9 months before its release; 60% in Heaven Hill Bourbon Barrels and 40% in stainless steel, blended back together to achieve a balance of complex notes from the liquor barrels, but still preserving the malt flavors that can be lost in the barrel aging process. We are releasing this offering in kegs, and we will also be doing a limited release of 22 oz bottles, perfect for cellaring.

Bardstown Barleywine

This is a strong barley wine at 10% alc/vol that was aged in Bourbon Barrels for a year. Bardstown has a wonderful aroma of vanilla, fruit, smoke, oak and alcohol. On the palate you first taste sweet malt, vanilla, ripe fruit and raisons followed closely by the warmth of alcohol and tannic oak. Bardstown is the very first beer OHB has ever bottled. It was made in very limited quantities, only about 150 cases were made. About the name: Bardstown is the county seat for Nelson County, Kentucky and is the host city of the annual Bourbon Festival. Most of the famous bourbons made hail from this area of Kentucky. A few years ago Steven was visiting Bardstown and the many distillers around Kentucky. While visiting the distilleries, Steven arranged to pick up some freshly used barrels, empty less than a day. The barrels were brought back to the brewery and filled right away. The barrels rested in the brewery for a year, full of barley wine. When the beer was just right, the barrels were emptied into a tank and allowed to condition before being bottled, one at a time, by hand. As Bardstown is such a big and robust beer, as well as being 10%, it will age very well, becoming more mellow as the years pass. If you have the opportunity and the patience to keep a bottle or two back you will be well rewarded in five to ten years.

Bare Bear

A long time ago in Finland, a bunch of Finnish dudes built a sauna. It was nicer in there than it was outside, so they stayed in there until they ran out of beer. When they ran out of beer they still didn’t want to go outside so they decided it would be better if they just started brewing their beer in the sauna. And so began the tradition of brewing this traditional Finnish beer in saunas. Chock full of rye and juniper and spicy yeast esters, our sahti might inspire you to build your own sauna to ride out this winter.

Barefoot Bohemian Pilsner Lager

Bohemians are creative dreamers who defy convention. Our Bohemian Pilsner is just that, an unorthodox lager with complex biscuity malt, soft rounded bitnerness and a twist of spice from the noble Saaz and Hallertau hops. This crisp and adventurous drop is perfect for a chilled out summer session…bliss. Originally our 2012 Summer seasonal beer, it has been added to our core range due to its immense popularity – some would also argue that we are still waiting for our 2012 summer. This is pilsner like the Czechs intended.

Barely Legal Barrel Aged

Our brewmaster got his hands on a few Heaven Hill bourbon barrels from Kentucky and went to town. This rotating offer uses our Barely Legal coconut porter as the base beer for several months of aging in the barrels. The aroma has a nice layer of smoky bourbon on top of the dark chocolate and coconut. The barrel aging gives the flavor an incdredibly smooth character with light boubon notes tying together the well-integrated dark-chocolate and roasted coconut flavors. Limited availability year-round .

BarFly Smoked Imperial Stout

Somber and smoky, BarFly Smoked Imperial Stout saunters into the room slowly. Thick smoke. Cool swagger. Good wood. Bit of bourbon. Sticky leather. Slow glances. Lingering looks. Vanilla. The only thing that didn’t make the glass was maraschino cherry. Bring your own and…WEAR OUT YOUR WELCOME. First brewed as part of our 2010 Pop Ten Series, BarFly was added to our Alaska’s Most Wanted line-up in 2014. Bourbon barrel-aging requires a long leisure so this beer is not on a set schedule but we hope to get a batch out about once a year.

Barge's Mild

This big flavor session beer combines dates, plums, and other dark fruits, with toffee, caramel, and toast maltiness. Wood and damp earth tones from the British Ale yeast and UK hops play supporting roles. Overall, reminiscent of toasted whole wheat with dark fruit marmalade. Clean sweet mouth feel ending moderately but firmly bitter and lightly roasted. As this beer warms toffee notes run wild!
