IPAs are always hop forward. This IPA has a distinct roasty-toasty flavor from a new black malt from Briess called Black Prinz.

August release. An American-style India Pale Ale brewed with debittered and chocolate malt.

Coffee and roast notes are present in the nose and on the tongue, followed by pleasant toffee and caramel notes from the Patagonian malts used. Stone fruit flavors are present if sought out. There is a lingering bitterness from the large, and varied hop additions. The hop profile is spicy, earthy, and blends well with the sweeter malt balance.

This northwestern style cascading IPA is an aggressively hopped IPA with an additional roasted malt flavor.

This IPA has the deep black color of a Stout, but the color leads your mind to expect a roasty acrid flavor to come through. Be prepared for this beer to trick your palate with the flavor and aromatics of a big hop bomb. Greg Noonan would be pleased. Cheers to Greg!

An emerging beer style roughly defined as a beer with IPA-level hopping, relatively high alcohol and a distinct toasty dark malt character. Typically lacks the roastiness and body of a strong stout and is hoppier than a strong porter. Expressive dry-hopping is common. Also called India Dark Ale, India Black Ale, Cascadian Dark Ale, Dark IPA and sometimes India Brown Ale. A modern spin on this classic style that has gained extreme popularity in the US where the consumer often seeks out hop forward beers with depth and character. How could Devil's Peak not give it a bash?

Our Black IPA has a little something for everyone. It looks and pours like a classic porter with pitch black color, hints of rich dark chocolate and a beautiful tan head. Breathe in the aroma and you will recognize that this smooth drinking ale is hopped with loads of Chinook and Comet hops. Finally, we add Cascade and Comet hops to this beer in the fermenter to impart that true-to-style American IPA aroma.

A proper stout to call our own…this brew is a quintessential Double Mountain interpretation of a classic style. Rich, creamy, roasty and beautifully bitter. Poured with a thick head, courtesy of nitrogen.

Brewed with a dehusked German malt that gives it a black and silky look, without the bitter roastiness you find in other dark beers. A variety of Columbus and Cascade hops were used quite generously to help balance out the large malt bill. This beer is abundant with in complex flavors and hop character and yet quite smooth for a beer that sits at 7.5% abv and 48 IBUs. Cheers! The style “India Black Ale” is so new, that there’s no one, all authoritative beer that we need to compare to. The trick is to get the balance between the malt bitterness and the hop bitterness. In this case we used non-astringent roasted malts to add the roasted flavors. The malt is a de-husked German black malt, it provides the color, and the roast flavor without the risk of extra acidity. It creates this intense roasted coffee and chocolate aroma. When we add the hops you’ll get that pine and citrus smell. When we released the test batch last year it went over really well. I drink the IBA when I have the time to really savor it and when it has the chance to come up to room temperature.

The first edition of Black is the New Wit was brewed on October 20 when Spike travelled to Ft. Collins, CO to brew with Bouckaert at New Belgium Brewing. Both versions of the beer will be virtually the same with the exception of the wood used for aging. New Belgium’s brew is being aged on cedar, whereas the Terrapin brew will be aged on sassafras.

7 cent Brewery has joined forces with one of our good mates bands ‘Man From The Meteor’ to produce a beer that was originally released in conjunction with the launch of their new single ‘Black Jackal’. This black IPA captures the essence of the Meteor sound in beer form, rock on!

Chief Black Kettle, peacemaker of the Southern Cheyenne in the mid-1800s, is remembered for both accepting treaties in order to protect his people and his efforts to resist American settlers from the Kansas and Colorado territories. That is, until he lost his life at the hands of General Custer’s troops during the Battle of Washita River. In his memory, we brewed our limited chocolate stout in our very own black kettles. Black Kettle Chocolate Stout is made with roasted barley and chocolate malt, as well as a heaping amount of cocoa powder, cocoa nibs, vanilla beans, and cinnamon sticks added to the kettle. It pours the color of onyx, and is topped with a fluffy, tan head. The aroma is reminiscent of roasted espresso beans and decedent chocolate, with a tinge of cinnamon spice. A throwback to our original recipe, Black Kettle Chocolate Stout leaves you in peace with a pleasant, lingering sweetness.

An Imperial Stout brewed with 6 row malt, chocolate malt and caramel malt with molasses and Carroll County honey added. A dark, roasted malt flavor that is bittersweet. All Cascade whole flower hops used.
