To mark our 2013 10th Anniversary we opened the year with a rich and strong winter ale. Our most decadent brew yet – a rich, strong winter black ale. A healthy addition of chocolate malt, plus infusions of dark organic cocoa and curacao orange peel provide unique flavour, perfect for those special times.

Black IPA

Black Mission is the definition of a collaborative effort. It is a recipe born of three brewers, inspired by two very different styles of beer, and designed to showcase the fruit for which it is named — Black Mission figs. The brewers used a simple but classic dessert as a starting point for their recipe, the fig newton. For generations, this dessert has combined the sweetness of figs with the earthy spice of a graham cracker crust. Patrick, Tim, and Gopal decided to reproduce this classic flavor profile in Black Mission by combining a beer style that has a toasty, bread-like quality with a yeast strain that has fruity esters. To create this distinct dichotomy of flavors, Black Mission utilizes aged hops that are traditionally found in Belgian Tripels along with a grain bill reminiscent of a Vienna lager. The fruity and spicy traits of a Belgian Tripel complement the toasty, graham cracker flavors of the malt. A secondary fermentation with Black Mission figs and lactose sugar enhances the sweetness and adds notes of dark, dried fruit. The result is much more than a cookie — it’s a beer.

A dry Irish-style stout served via nitrogen. Black Mo is a very smooth and creamy beer with a pleasant roasted malt character.

A blend of rye, dark malts, and hops produce a wildly delicious, roasty, dark IPA that will leave you wanting more.

A style of Pale Ale, Black Mountain Bitter will be lightly hopped with traditional British hop varieties to balance the malt sweetness yet encourage it to tend toward the dry side. We recently received our organic certification from Clemson University after undergoing a rigid inspection and two-month compliance process. Although this represents a big step for Highland, the idea of an all organic product is consistent with our corporate ethos and embrace of natural traditional brewing methods.

One of the most sought-after stouts in Bell's history, Black Note Stout blends the complex aromatics of Expedition Stout with the velvety smooth texture of Double Cream Stout and ages the combination in freshly retired oak bourbon barrels for months. The resulting harmony of flavors captures the finest features of all three components: malty notes of dark chocolate, espresso & dried fruits, all buoyed by the warmth and fragrance of the bourbon barrel. Aimed squarely at the stout and bourbon aficionados, Black Note makes a grand statement about the art of the dark.

Alone in his laboratory one stormy night, a madman crossed an imperial stout with pumpkin to create this frankenbrew. How good is it? Well, scary good.

Brooklyn Black Ops does not exist. However, if it did exist, it would be a robust stout concocted by the Brooklyn brewing team under cover of secrecy and hidden from everyone else at the brewery. Supposedly "Black ops" was aged for four months in bourbon barrels, bottled flat, and re-fermented with Champagne yeast, creating big chocolate and coffee flavors with a rich underpinning of vanilla-like oat notes. They say there are only 1,000 cases. We have no idea what they're talking about.

Rich and decadent chocolate porter laid down over Madagascar vanilla beans A variety of cocoas, spices, and malts form the base of this sumptuous porter. Accenting the rich body of the brew is the fruit of the vanilla planifolia vine, the vanilla bean. Whole vanilla beans are used, not extracts or flavorings, and the flavor is allowed to infuse the beer naturally over a long period of time. The result is a smooth vanilla flavor and slight aroma, the perfect counterpoint to the chocolate notes.

The noble hops used impart a wonderful herbal spiciness. A medium body that dries out slowly in the finish. Spiced up with pepper for a deeper, fuller taste experience.

The first release in the "Ales from the Dark Side" series...A dark, roasted twist on the traditional IPA that uses an absurd amount of malt and is "octo-hopped" with the German Perle hop. The biggest beer in the RJ Rockers linup to date. Black IPA

Just as the Mythical Phoenix rose from fire, the trio of rich Arabica Coffee, Chipotle Peppers, and Malted Barley were formed by fire to create this robust ale. We wanted the freshest coffee available, so we had our local Orange County friends, Kean Coffee, custom roast the beans for us. Chocolate malt, Roasted Barley and Oats help to round out the flavor with the Chipotle Peppers adding a subtle warmth and smokiness to the finish.
