Dunkleweiss

Our rendition of a rare German-style beer known as a Dunkel Weizen (meaning Dark Wheat). The slight sour taste from the yeast left in suspension is offset by the roasted hint of darker grains.

A traditional Bavarian style Dark Lager, made with Munich, Pils and German Roast malts and a variety of Bavarian hops. This became the third Sly Fox beer to be canned in October 2006.

Dark, malty, some bitterness, smooth, easy drinking dark beer! Chuckanut Dunkel is a classic malty, deep mahogany, Munchener lager with balanced smooth toffee & chocolate notes . This full-flavored dark lager is a favorite inour taproom and with competition judges. Winner of Gold Medals from GABF 2009, NABA 2009, World Beer Cup 2010, NABA 2011, GABF 2014, World Beer Cup 2014, NABA 2015 as well as many more Silvers and Bronzes from other competitions.

The combination of Bavarian weizen (wheat) and roasted malts serve up a great fall beer.

Think of it as hefeweizen’s older brother. A hearty mix of wheat and dark German barley malts gives it a medium body and muddy brown hue, while our proprietary yeast strain provides the signature notes of banana and clove. If you like wheat beers, come to the Dunkel side. You won’t be disappointed. Just don’t put a lemon in it. 6.4% ABV

Caramel in color, creamy head, clove aromas with hints of dried fruit and light toast, full palate that has notes of malty wheaty flavors with citrus and nutty undertones. Brewed with Weyermann Pilsner, Munich, Dark Wheat, Carawheat, German Nothern Brewer and German ale yeast.

Wheat malt sweetness & chocolate malt roastiness are balanced with a subdued clove & banana flavor and aroma in this dark copper German classic.

Dunkel means “Dark” in German. Traditionally brewed in Southern Germany, this take on the Dark Wheat beer uses wheat and dark German specialty grains to give the beer a soft mellow character with layers of rich malt flavors. Our version uses German Ale yeast instead of a Weizen yeast leaving a clean finish with none of the clove or banana flavors often associated with this style.

Tall, dark and delicious wheat ale with enticing aromas of banana, fresh bread, and clove, and a creamy, spritzy texture similar to its golden Weissbier cousin. Overtones of chocolate and roasted malt add complexity for a tasting experience that evolves gracefully sip by sip.

Rare beer. Unfiltered, medium body. Rich dark brown/mahogany color. Same banana and clove notes as its pale sister beer (Hefeweizen) with a more complex, smoother finish.
